A mob of angry left-wing ‘musicians’ have signed an open letter stating their support for Palestine and condemning the Israeli government for its “bombardment” of Gaza. How terrible of Israel to protect their citizens! I guess the authors of this message aren’t aware that Israeli defense forces have not occupied Gaza in over ten years.
Not only are there over 600 artists who have signed this letter, many of them are also American. Black Thought and Questlove of The Roots, Rage Against the Machine, Patti Smith, Roger Waters, and Sarah Neufeld of Arcade Fire have all signed on in support. Have any of these people ever actually visited Israel? They definitely haven’t visited Gaza, because if they did they would be aware that it is controlled by the Hamas terrorists who aren't very friendly hosts.
“In solidarity and empathy” the letter starts, “as musicians, we cannot be silent.” This absurd piece of writing states that in order to show their support for the Palestinian people these artists will refuse to perform at any of “Israel’s complicit cultural institutions.” How empathetic of them.
According to the letter, Israel is “committed to the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian population.” If it weren’t for ignorant rock stars, there’d be no rock stars at all. They have it exactly backward. There would be no Israel-Palestine conflict if the Palestinians weren’t constantly trying to wipe out Jews. The Hamas Covenant states "The Day of Judgement will not come about until Moslems fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees.”
“The legacies of systemic violence, racism and dispossession shaped by colonialism must stop.” Writes the group, which calls itself #MusiciansforPalestine. This sounds oddly familiar doesn't it?
The professional virtue signallers continue further, saying “We call on all governments to stop funding all resources and technologies that back the Israeli state and their war crimes.” What about the millions of dollars given to Palestine every year that instead of being used to create better schools or more equipped hospitals is instead used to construct rockets and build tunnels for Hamas terrorists? Have they already forgotten that Palestine fired first?
“Today, we speak together and demand justice, dignity and the right to self-determination for the Palestinian people and all who are fighting colonial dispossession and violence across the planet,” continues the letter. What about the multiple chances that Palestine has had to reach an agreement with Israel? I guess they are ignorant of that fact as well.
Shut up and play your guitar.
