CNN: Trump the Killer, Biden the Working-Class Hero

September 18th, 2020 12:40 PM

Alisyn Camerota CNN New Day 9-18-20Trump the killer. Biden the working-class hero—if  there's time to "reprogram" voters to see him that way. That was CNN's hyper-partisan twofer during New Day's 8 am hour this morning.

Co-host Alisyn Camerota opened with a jarring choice of words to announce the latest COVID stats: "900 Americans killed on Thursday. U.S. nearing 200,000 Americans killed."

But notice the chyron that was simultaneously displayed: "Biden Blasts Trump Pandemic Response as 'Nearly Criminal'" Suddenly, CNN's choice of words made sense! Who "killed" those people? Why, the "nearly criminal" guy, of course!

And a bit later, CNN doctor Sanjay Gupta drove home the message, saying that 80-90% of people who've died of the coronavirus could have been "saved" if guidance had been followed.

ALISYN CAMEROTA: Where are we with coronavirus cases this morning? Well, they're spiking again in the U.S. Thirty states are seeing increases in cases. More than 44,000 new cases reported just yesterday. Almost 900 more Americans were killed on Thursday. The U.S. is nearing the milestone of 200,000 Americans killed.

. . .

SANJAY GUPTA: This is what my source said: every step along the way, this guidance that could have saved, you know, 80% to 90% of the people who died could have been saved had this guidance had been abided by. Every step of the way, that guidance has been buried, and then minimized, then ignored, and now ridiculed. That’s what’s happening. I mean, it’s not that hard. The guidance was not that challenging. It could have been done but it was buried, minimized, ignored, and now ridiculed.

A bit later, discussing Biden's Scranton visit, and his attempt to wrest away from Trump the mantle of the working-class candidate, Camerota wondered whether there was "time to sort of reprogram people's thinking?"

A very condescending take on blue-collar voters! As Rush might say, Camerota views them as "mind-numbed robots" who need to be "reprogrammed." CNN and the rest of the liberal media will of course try their hardest to do just that between now and election day.

Here's that transcript.

ABBY PHILLIP: He’s also trying to tap in a little bit to a cultural message that’s been part of his sort of political DNA over the years, which is to say, you know, I grew up with a working-class, middle-class family. I want to create the American Dream for everyone. And I think that’s where — that’s where you see a lot of Democrats saying that’s Biden’s sweet spot. They want him to be there a lot more often, especially as we head into November.

CAMEROTA: It's just so interesting, Abby. I mean, Biden owns that identity. This isn’t an adopted identity that he’s having to put on. He is from Scranton, with blue-collar roots. And to Donald Trump’s credit, he has convinced voters that he speaks their language, that he speaks that demographic of voters. That he speaks those populist, blue-collar language. But I thought it was interesting that Joe Biden pointed out he’s not self-made — Donald Trump, he's saying, is not self-made. He was given $1 million from his dad. He was raised wealthy. Do you think that there’s time to kind of reprogram people’s thinking since Donald Trump for four years has so effectively held on to that mantle?

CNN implying that President Trump "killed" the people who have died of the coronavirus, and wondering whether there was time to "reprogram" voters into seeing Biden as the working-class candidate was sponsored by Priceline, and Carvana.
