The liberal Spanish-speaking news media have become a freak show of sorts, with audiences constantly being taken for a ride either by omissions or through one-sided reporting. A story about the Democratic National Convention by Univision White House correspondent Edwin Pitti, showcases this ongoing trend that amounts to the unconcealed manipulation of the news in order to fit the network´s political agenda.
After worshiping Barack Obama’s spiteful, hate-filled, and plainly racist DNC speech against his successor, Pitti stated, with a straight face, that there was no evidence that the Trump campaign had been spied on, in reference to a tweet from the president where Trump wrote that “he (Obama) had spied on his political campaign and was caught red-handed.”
Of course, to Pitti, and the rest at Univision, as long as the truth doesn't make it to the news, it's a lie. Watch as Pitti delivers fake news to his morning slot audience:
SATCHA PRETTO: Breaking with tradition, former President Barack Obama openly referred to his successor and said Trump failed the country.
(....)
PITTI: While President Obama was speaking, Trump immediately reacted on his Twitter account saying that he (Obama) had spied on his political campaign and was caught red-handed, though there is still no evidence that it happened.
Yet, the truth always comes out; in this case, the charges –and subsequent plea bargain - to former FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith for falsifying a document to justify surveillance of a former Trump campaign adviser as part of the 2016 investigation into Russian interference in the presidential election.
Why insist in omitting the crime of confessed former FBI attorney Kevin Clinesmith and call Trump a liar? For one, a Democrat win promises defunding ICE, legalizing illegal immigration and most importantly to Univision, the chance to fully engage in radical advocacy as a PAC with a broadcast license.

August 20, 2020SATCHA PRETTO: In the evening hours, Kamala Harris becomes the first woman of color to accept the vice presidential nomination for one of the two big parties. Other women who have made history reigned on the third day of the Democratic National Convention, including New Mexico's first Hispanic governor, Michelle Lujan-Grisham, as well as former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. Breaking with tradition, former President Barack Obama openly referred to his successor and said Trump failed the country. Edwin Pitti is live from Washington D.C., with the highlights of the day. Edwin, go ahead.
EDWIN PITTI: Good morning, Satcha. A historic night for Kamala Harris by officially accepting the Democratic party's nomination for vice president. She was undoubtedly accompanied by important voices such as former Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton and also Lower House President, Nancy Pelosi. But despite being a woman and attaining this achievement, Kamala Harris focused on the problems facing this country and appreciated the opportunity. Listen.
KAMALA HARRIS: I accept the nomination to be Vice President of the United States of America.
PITTI: While Kamala Harris was saying there was no vaccine for racism, the focus was on the speech of former President Barack Obama, who said that he had the opportunity to sit inside the Oval Office with Trump and Biden, and that there's a big difference. Listen:
BARACK OBAMA: “I did hope, for the sake of our country, that Donald Trump might show some interest in taking the job seriously. That he might come to feel the weight of the office. And discover some reverence for the democracy that had been placed in his care.”
PITTI: While President Obama was speaking, Trump immediately reacted on his Twitter account saying that he (Obama) had spied on his political campaign and was caught red-handed, though there is still no evidence that it happened. But Joe Biden immediately replied that Donald Trump hasn’t grown into the job because he can’t. So Stacha, part of the tension that is still being lived in this political event. In my live report from Washington, back to you.
