Any humorous social media post from one of the Trump children will always be followed by the wailing and gnashing of leftist teeth. It’s essentially Newton's lesser known 4th law of the universe. After President Trump’s son Eric Trump posted a decade-old clip of late comedian Robin Williams blasting Democratic candidate Joe Biden, the late comic’s daughter Zelda torched him.
Last week, a clip of Robin Williams making fun of Joe Biden from 2009 re-surfaced and went viral. Even then Biden was a gaffe machine, enough so that it made its way into a bit by one of America’s most beloved comedians.
During the clip, which Eric Trump, the Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, shared to his Twitter page on August 6, Williams blasted Biden. He riffed, “We still have great comedy out there. There’s always ramblin’ Joe Biden. What the fuck?” If only Mr. Williams could see where we are today … no, he’d never make fun of Biden as presumptive Democratic nominee. And if he did, he’d find himself cancelled.
In the clip, Williams savaged Biden: “Joe says shit that even people with Tourettes go ‘No! No! What is going on?’” The audience loved it. “Joe is like your uncle who’s on a new drug and hasn’t got the dosage right.” He then mimed the then-Vice president and his tenuous grip on reality: “‘I’m proud to work with Barack America.’ He’s not a superhero, you idiot!”
Wow, sounds like that gaffe could’ve been from one of his recent campaign speeches, you know the one where he talks about his favorite president and the beauty of our one nation, under … uh – you know – “the thing?” The short clip featured one more mock quote from the Vice president. Robins stated, “‘When FDR was on television, there was no TV back then.’ Come here, Joe! Sit down!” See, even Williams knew Biden needed his basement nearby. The comedian sure was ahead of his time.
Though after Eric Trump tweeted the clip, an enraged Zelda Williams went after the president’s son on Twitter. No. Trumps are not allowed to laugh at mainstream comedians, especially when they speak poorly of the left’s desperation candidate.
On Saturday, William’s daughter responded to Trump’s post, tweeting, “While we’re ‘reminiscing’ (to further your political agenda), you should look up what he said about your Dad. I did. Promise you, it’s much more ‘savage’.” Twitter users replied to the late comic’s daughter with clips from a 2012 Robin Williams show during which he joked about Trump saying his own daughter is “hot.” So yes, in terms of 2020 presidential candidates, perhaps Mr. William wouldn’t have approved of either.
“Gentle reminder that the dead can’t vote, but the living can,” Zelda added at the end of her post, with a heart emoji. Though really, Ms. Williams, everyone knows the dead can, and often do, vote.
