Well with Aunt Jemima, the weird sword handle on the University of Virginia emblem and countless other things now Gone With The Wind in the marxist BLM quest for world domination, it was just a matter of time before “transphobe” J.K. Rowling’s latest book was threatened with the torch before it had even been published.
LGBTQ outlet PinkNews reported on June 16 that several young staff members at the company that publishes J.K. Rowling’s books are up in arms over having to publish the acclaimed Harry Potter author’s latest work, all because she recently took the bold stance that women menstruate.
Imagine impeding the next project from one of the most popular authors in human history because your fantasy of men being able to have periods isn’t shared by all. Man this leftism thing is really starting to get in the way.
The LGBTQ outlet reported on the “internal war” going on in the U.K. publishing company Hachette over Rowling’s new children’s book, The Ickabog. Some staff members in the children’s department vehemently disagreed with the author’s stance on female sexuality and were threatening to cease working on the project in solidarity with the “trans lobby.” So far, however, the company is standing by their star author.
Sources claimed that “a handful of staff” voiced serious concerns over trying to get the book out, and described said employees “staged a rebellion” during a meeting prior to The Ickabog’s publishing.
This internal disagreement isn’t too surprising considering Rowling angered millions of woke millennials by disputing progressive gender politics in recent weeks. Rowling, who has been considered a “trans exclusionary radical feminist” (TERF) by the far left for a while now, mocked a recent article that appeared to be blurring the distinction between human genders that menstruate and those that don’t.
Of course for the left, biological females who have popped hormone pills to get facial hair and have had breast reduction surgery to resemble men, are men. And since they still have female anatomy, they are men who menstruate. It’s insanity, and Rowling skewered that with her sarcastic post: “‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”
That generated hysteria on the left, and since then Rowling has been defending her right to free speech amidst the left’s latest “cancel” campaign. She wrote an open letter defending her views on sexuality which was dragged by many, notably the millennial stars of the Harry Potter film franchise, and now even people working on her latest are trying to stymie her success.
Thankfully, though Hatchette defended its staff’s right to their opinions, it affirmed that it also respects its authors’ expression of free speech. The publisher affirmed that it does not respect any boycott of authors over their personal beliefs.
“We are proud to publish JK Rowling’s children’s fairy tale The Ickabog. Freedom of speech is the cornerstone of publishing,” they said in a statement, adding, “we will never make our employees work on a book whose content they find upsetting for personal reasons, but we draw a distinction between that and refusing to work on a book because they disagree with an author’s views outside their writing.”
That’s an important distinction. Glad to see some people standing up to the leftist mob.
