Thankfully, not everyone in showbiz thinks Hollywood virtue-signaling is the most charming thing in the universe. Recently, celebrity podcast host Joe Rogan had a mouthful for the glamorous Hollywood stars who put out a video compilation of them singing a cheesy John Lennon song during Chinese virus quarantine.
Rogan accused them of being tone deaf and helping absolutely no one. “It’s such a dumb move,” he claimed.
During the April 1 episode of The Joe Rogan Podcast, a radio show with a YouTube following of four million subscribers, the famous host discussed Hollywood’s latest hollow stunt for coronavirus solidarity with comedian Tom Segura.
On March 18, almost two dozen celebrities, led by Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot, contributed clips of themselves each singing a line from John Lennon’s hippy-dippy, communist utopia song “Imagine.”
The end result was supposed to be a music video composed of famous faces meant to inspire hope for all those quarantined and dealing with coronavirus. Though many viewers mocked the video, accusing Hollywood stars like Gadot, Mark Ruffalo, Jimmy Fallon, Natalie Portman, Maya Rudolph and Will Ferrell of being hypocrites who probably aren't suffering too much in their Beverly Hills mansions.
Rogan and Segura mocked it, too. “This is not the time, when everyone's granny is dying, you fucking idiot, to sing, 'Imagine there's no heaven,’" Rogan claimed. Segura added, “There’s this sense that you feel like they feel like they did something significant.”
“It’s such a dumb move,” Rogan claimed. Yeah, of course it is a dumb move. How out of touch must one be to think their niche, far-left atheistic views are a comfort to millions of religious Americans?
His guest quipped, “I lost my job at the meatpacking plant, but Gal Gadot sang 'Imagine.'" Yeah, that sure puts it in perspective.
Rogan continued, perplexed as to why no one told Gadot it was a bad idea: “If I'm friends with her … I would have to say, 'Listen, you're awesome. I think you're great. But that is a ridiculous idea. It is so lacking in self-awareness and so ridiculous.”
“I mean, Granny died choking on her own vomit, but I feel like the world's better because Gal Gadot's so pretty,” he added, slamming the Wonder Woman actress’s idea once again. “There are some people who get real self-indulgent and real self-righteous with that social media. It's exposed a lot of celebrities for being real dorks.”
We’re sure glad Rogan and Segura get it.
