What else would you expect from the man who accused Navy Seal Chris Kyle of being a "racist," and described his work as a sniper as "killing sprees?" The same man who suggested that a Palestinian stabber in Jerusalem was unarmed when shot by police despite footage clearly showing a knife in his hand?
Joy Reid had the man in question, Ayman Mohyeldin, formerly of Al Jazeera, now co-host host of the Morning Joe lead-in show, on her MSNBC show today to comment on the Trump administration's proposed Israeli/Palestinian peace plan. Reid was highly skeptical/critical of the plan. When a dubious Reid asked whether the Palestinians would get anything out of the deal, Mohyeldin told Reid that:
"Ultimately, it would not deliver to the Palestinians what they’ve been calling for for decades: freedom, self-determination, end of occupation, the right to live freely, and not to live under a brutal Israeli military occupation that has now been for more than 50 years."
While Mohyeldin was discussing Palestinian goals, his description of a "brutal Israeli military occupation" was clearly his own characterization.
As for being "brutal," and despite being besieged by its incomparably more numerous neighbors literally since the day of its creation, Israel has sought to act in a humane rather than a "brutal" manner toward Palestinians. For example, as General Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Obama, said, apropos Israeli operations in Gaza in 2014:
"I actually do think that Israel went to extraordinary lengths to limit collateral damage and civilian casualties . . . In this kind of conflict, where you are held to a standard that your enemy is not held to, you’re going to be criticized for civilian casualties.”
Democrats, both among its elected officials [see Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, etc.] and its supporting choir in the MSM, are increasingly becoming the anti-Israel party, with currents of anti-Semitism not far below the surface. Mohyeldin's blatant anti-Israel bias typifies the trend, as does Reid's choice to have him as the sole commentator on the peace plan, knowing full well what she would get.
