In a cheap play for the sympathy of their female audience, Telemundo featured a report on the so-called “Three Comadres of Impeachment”-the three Hispanic congresswomen on the House Judiciary Committee.

The “Comadres” say that they don't hate the president. They pray to God for him.
In Latin America, comadre denotes a level of friendship that approximates sisterhood- usually reserved for a maid of honor, or for the godmother of one’s children.
The chummy group made up by Congresswomen Debbie Mucarsel-Powel (FL), Veronica Escobar (TX) and Sylvia Garcia (TX) is presented as having developed this deep bond of sisterhood over impeachment. The comadres share their shawls, snacks, and their sense of having “fulfilled an important mission for the country,” as Telemundo anchor Jose Diaz-Balart spelled it out.
Yet the most amazing part of their “confessions” in the Telemundo feature – one that seemed to follow the same script for anything related to the impeachment coming from the liberals – was at the very end of the clip, where they say, a la Nancy Pelosi, that they don't hate the President; they pray for him.
Yet, considering all the heat coming from Trump haters, it’s a good thing that, following the steps of THEIR godmother, Nancy Pelosi, at the end of the day, they send good intentions to the man they fervently want to see burning at the stake.

As we said at the beginning, one day after the historic vote, Noticias Telemundo brought them together for the first time in this same committee where the charges were decided. The godmothers of the impeachment shared their Latin pride and why they feel they have fulfilled an important mission for the country. Cristina Londoño spoke to them.
CRISTINA LONDOÑO: Only hours after having a leading role in President Trump's impeachment process, these three friends, who already consider themselves the godmothers of impeachment, took me behind the scenes to the committee that defined the charges.
LONDOÑO: What is this club of the Judiciary Committee godmothers?
DEBBIE MUCARSEL-POWELL: The three of us have had very emotional moments, we have supported one another, when it was cold Veronica lent me her shawl, when we were hungry we shared snacks, we have become a family on this committee.
LONDOÑO: Part of the family, the fourth Latino of the committee, Luis Correa of California, with whom first here, and then before the plenary, they voted to get the president out of the White House.
SYLVIA GARCÍA: It's a very sad time, isn't it? And it all started here in this room, where we're here right now.
MUCARSEL-POWEL: I feel at peace, because the most important thing right now is to protect the future of this country's democracy.
LONDOÑO: Which is pretty much the same thing you were saying.
VERÓNICA ESCOBAR: Yes, I feel very calm, but it is a tragedy, because we have a president who for whom the constitution does not mean anything to him, and for us it is everything.
LONDOÑO: The great frustration for them is that after seeing the same evidence and hearing the same testimony, Republicans continue to support the president unconditionally.
ESCOBAR: It's a party that's only faithful to one person, to Donald Trump.
GARCÍA: I don't know how they can't see what's going on. But for me, they don't say anything because they're afraid of Donald Trump. Because Donald Trump to them is like a king.
LONDOÑO: They agree that the most rewarding thing about their work is to be the voice of the Latino community. And most painfully, to see the way they have been mistreated.
LONDOÑO: Have you felt that contempt here at some point?
MUCARSEL-POWEL: Veronica was talking about immigration in the chamber when we were taking a vote and all the Republicans started screaming, insulting, saying completely offensive things while she was talking.
GARCÍA: Mocking her.
MUCARSEL-POWEL: Mocking her.
LONDOÑO: You mean, they shut her up.
THE COMADRES: No, no, they did not shut us up.
ESCOBAR: No, I screamed. They won´t get me. But yes, it was a very low moment.
GARCÍA: In English you say “turning the Latino on” (laughter). She didn´t allow it, no.
LONDOÑO: The godmothers say they don't hate the president. They pray to God for him.
ESCOBAR: Me too.
LONDOÑO: ¿You too?
ESCOBAR: All of us.
LONDOÑO: So that he leave fast or what?
MUCARSEL-POWEL: So that he sees the light.
ESCOBAR: To have compassion, it seems that what he lacks is compassion.
GARCÍA: Someone who shows compassion and who suffers. In my prayers every Sunday that I go to Mass.
