The liberal bias and double standards doesn’t get any bolder than this.
Here is the headline from The Daily Caller: “NBC News Reporter Calls Out Barr For Praising Book On Due Process In College Sexual Assault Cases.”
The story begins this way:
An NBC News reporter called out Attorney General Bill Barr on Thursday after his endorsement surfaced of a book that delves into “the attack on due process” with regard to people accused of sexual assault on college campuses.
Barr endorsed a book published in 2017 titled Campus Rape Frenzy: The Attack On Due Process At America’s Universities. It was co-authored by K.C. Johnson and Stuart Taylor Jr., who previously helped expose the 2006 Duke lacrosse scandal, when three college players were falsely accused of rape.
The NBC piece, reported here by NBC reporter Heidi Przybyla, makes a point of saying this:
Emily Martin, vice president for education and workplace justice at the National Women's Law Center, said Barr’s comments are "incredibly disturbing" coming from someone who is now the nation's chief law enforcement officer.
His statement "really discounts the experiences of survivors and the challenges they face," Martin said.
She went on to raise concerns that Barr's comments would mean his Justice Department would "leave schools less safe, especially for women and girls."
Got that? As with the Kavanaugh hearings -- and of course, Kavanaugh is brought into this NBC piece -- much is made that Barr’s endorsement of the book, made before he had any idea he would be returning to the Justice Department at all, “really discounts the experiences of survivors and the challenges they face.”
So there is great concern at NBC and elsewhere in liberal media precincts for “survivors and the challenges they face.” Really?
Take a look over here at this NewsBusters piece from earlier this month by Kristine Marsh. The headline: “Media Mute After 7th Illegal Arrested For Rape Since July In Sanctuary County."
Kristine’s story reports in part, this:
Montgomery County, Maryland’s liberal leaders are defending their lax treatment of illegal immigrant crime, after ICE revealed that seven illegal immigrants have been arrested for sexual assault or rape charges in the past six weeks, alone. Unbelievably, the networks could find no time at all to cover even one of the stories of children being assaulted in completely preventable crimes.
Friday, local Maryland reporter WJLA’s Kevin Lewis reported there’s been at least seven “undocumented” arrested in Mongtgomery County for rape, since late July. On his timeline, he described some of the disgusting details of these horrific crimes, against victims as young as 11 years old…
…a search of Snapstream Sunday for various relevant terms revealed zero stories on ABC, NBC or CBS in six weeks on any of these arrests.
In other words? If now-Attorney General Bill Barr, who works for the hated-by-the-media President Trump, once endorsed a book that demands due process for those on a college campus accused of sexual assault — that is horrific. It is a slap in the face to “survivors and the challenges they face.
But if seven illegals have shown up in the sanctuary county of Montgomery County, Maryland and sexually assaulted seven different victims, one who was eleven-years old? No big deal at NBC, it’s simply not worth reporting. There is curiously no concern for the “survivors and the challenges they face.” In fact, there is just no reporting on the acts themselves, much less the survivors of the assaults.
Or in another words, if you are a male college student charged with sexual assault on a college campus, who cares about due process? If you are Attorney General Barr and you endorsed a book two years ago, while in private life, that focused on the denial of due process to said college student males? Outrage ensues.
But if you are an illegal in a sanctuary county and you are charged with sexual assault? Not to mention if this happens with seven different illegals -- and one of the alleged victims is an 11-year old girl? Then NBC and the rest simply turn away. There’s nothing to see here, folks. Just move on. Who cares about the “survivors and the challenges they face”?
As this Barr story makes clear, there is a difference in media coverage standards for American male college students and illegals who stand accused of sexual assault. The male students are outrageously privileged, you see, while the illegals are the opposite -- so who cares?
After all, they’re only illegals. Not a college student or a Trump-appointed Supreme Court Justice.
