A very uncomfortable ethnic identity moment unfolded for Elizabeth Warren on Friday when the radio host, Charlamagne tha God, of the nationally syndicated The Breakfast Club told the senator from Massachusetts that she was kind of like Rachel Dolezal, a white woman who tried to pass herself off as black. Her very defensive reaction did not seem to do her candidacy for president much good as you can see in the following video:
CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD: The Native American thing. Do you regret taking the DNA test?
ELIZABETH WARREN: Uhh, I can't go back.
Yeah, it sure sounds like she regrets it. Warren later attempted to change the subject to anything else such as student loan debt, housing, healthcare, anything but you-know-what. Unfortunately for Warren and her presidential hopes, Charlamagne tha God brought her back in a very painful way to her fake claims of being an American Indian.
CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD: How long did you hold onto that? Because there are some reports that said you were Native American on your Texas Bar license and that you said you were Native American on some documents when you were a professor at Harvard. Like, why did you do that?
WARREN: It's what I believed. You know, like I said, it's what I learned from my family.
CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD: When did you find out you weren't?
A very good question which Warren definitely did not answer.
WARREN: Well, you know, it's...I'm not a person of color. I'm not a citizen of a tribe. And tribal citizenship is an important distinction and not something I am.
CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD: Was there any benefits to that?
WARREN: No. Boston Globe did a full investigation. It never affected....nothing about my family ever affected any job I ever got.
Soon after this, Charlamagne tha God hit her with the Rachel Dolezal whammy that could be destined to stick to poor Warren for the remainder of her campaign:
CHARLAMAGNE THA GOD: You're kind of like the original Rachel Dolezal a little bit. Rachel Dolezal was a white woman pretending to be black.
WARREN: This is what I learned from my family.
OUCH!
