The world’s most-popular YouTuber is now under attack from the left. Liberals want to silence him and remove from YouTube because they claim he’s a “white supremacist.”
In a Change.org petition signed by 67,186 people, liberals are campaigning to remove YouTuber PewDiePie and blame him for a recent anti-Muslim terror attack. Maria Ruiz, who launched the petition, demanded that, “In the wake of the most recent mosque shooting I believe it is time to take action as a community and remove white supremacist content from our platforms.”
She claimed his YouTube channel was, “one of the largest platforms for white supremacist content.” It’s unclear if Ruiz is a real person. That’s the same name as a character from the TV show Orange is The New Black.
PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, became world famous for his YouTube videos featuring him commenting as he plays video games, reviewing memes, and reacting to viral videos. He has fought to stay in that spot despite various controversies for politically incorrect jokes.
He has featured various celebrities contributing to his show such as world-famous inventor Elon Musk as well as Rick and Morty show creator Justin Roiland hosting his iconic “Meme Review.” In a bit that went viral he asked Ben Shapiro to react to various Shapiro parody memes. Shapiro responded by filming his own Meme Review segment at his studio and emulating PewDiePie’s style.
Shapiro had previously said at a live event that, “PewDiePie is the single most followed YouTuber on planet Earth” and called him “very funny,”
The fight to deplatform PewDiePie for controversial jokes is similar to the incident where YouTuber Mark Meechan, who goes by CountDankula, was arrested in the UK for “grossly offensive” conduct. That conduct, for which he was eventually fined, was teaching his pug to do a “heil” gesture in order to annoy his liberal girlfriend.
The liberals who posted the anti-PewDiePie petition took comments from the New Zealand Mosque shooter’s manifesto and commentary out of context. Even liberal news sources admitted the terrorist was clearly trolling by trying to bait media into further polarizing and radicalizing the debates.
PewDiePie was repulsed at the mention, tweeting,
Just heard news of the devastating reports from New Zealand Christchurch.
I feel absolutely sickened having my name uttered by this person.
My heart and thoughts go out to the victims, families and everyone affected by this tragedy.
