Is Paul McCartney available to once again bail out the troubled Super Bowl halftime program? The NFL may want to think about bringing in the former Beatles legend because the scourge of social justice activism is wreaking havoc with the big game's big entertainment event. Now Rihanna is reportedly passing up an opportunity to perform at halftime of the 2019 Super Bowl because she's upset that Colin Kaepernick is not part of an NFL team.
A former member of the San Francisco 49ers who brought anthem protests to the NFL in 2016, Kaepernick is an icon of the far Left because of his caustic social justice campaign against America and public safety officers. Several organizations have honored him with awards, and his notoriety also landed him a multi-million dollar endorsement contract with Nike. Nevertheless, those on the Left can't remind us enough how badly he's been harmed by the 32 NFL teams who have no interest in hiring him. He's suing them on the charge of collusion, hoping to reap another windfall.
One of the most successful singers in history, the Barbados native Robyn Rihanna Fenty rejected the NFL's offer "because she supports Kaepernick” and “because of the kneeling controversy,” an unidentified source told Us Weekly.
The Washington Post's Matt Bonesteel reports, "Entertainment Tonight went even further with a source claiming Rihanna was 'the front-runner' to perform and that a high-profile Super Bowl appearance would have synced up well with her plans for a new album (two new albums?) and a tour. But she stuck to what’s right in her eyes,” the unknown source said.
Slate's Marissa Martinelli wrote, "Rihanna has been an outspoken critic of the deaths of unarmed civilians at the hands of law enforcement; in 2016, she participated in a collaboration with Alicia Keys and Mic called '23 Ways You Could Be Killed If You Are Black in America.' However, another source told ET that both Rihanna and Pink actually passed on the gig because negotiations were taking too long."
Yahoo writer Frank Schwab weighed in on the story, saying, "When Colin Kaepernick said in an instantly famous Nike commercial, 'Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything,' Rihanna listened."
Kaepernick-related Super Bowl performance rejections by entertainers are becoming a regular thing. Bonesteel writes: "Ahead of last season’s Super Bowl, reports surfaced that Jay-Z had turned down the NFL’s Super Bowl halftime offer, purportedly because of the league’s treatment of Kaepernick. The rapper later seemed to confirm that in a song this past the summer":
“I said no to the Super Bowl. You need me; I don’t need you. Every night we in the end zone; tell the NFL we in stadiums, too.”
