On Wednesday, both Fox and Friends and Fox News at Night took the time to inform viewers of the case of an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, Ramon Escobar, who is believed to have murdered several homeless people in Los Angeles.
Additionally, according to the Los Angeles Times, in spite of his previous criminal history and six deportations, he was granted a stay of deportation in 2016 because he applied for asylum.
At 7:49 a.m. Eastern on Fox and Friends, correspondent Todd Pirro recalled for viewers that Escobar was arrested under suspicion of attacking homeless men as they slept and using a baseball bat to beat them to death as he robbed them.
The FNC correspondent also noted that the repeatedly deported Escobar was actually released from ICE custody after winning an immigration case in 2016 in spite of a long criminal history. He is also suspected in the disappearance of his aunt and uncle in Texas, where he fled from recently after being questioned.
The Los Angeles Times linked the decision to allow him to stay in the country to an asylum claim.
The story has so far not been mentioned on the other cable or broadcast networks.
