Tom Vander Woude, a man heavily involved in my church since it was founded in 2001, drowned Monday trying to save his 20-year-old son with Down Syndrome after he fell into the septic tank on their farm. The son, Joseph, is still in intensive care with double pneumonia. Press accounts told me something I didn’t know: Tom was a pilot in Vietnam, so sacrifice was a big word in his vocabulary.
The Washington Post has a very nice front-page story this morning if you'd like to read more on this heroic story and heroic life.
UPDATE: Mark Levin read the Post article on the air at the opening of his nationally syndicated show on Wednesday. Thank you, Great One, for sharing this story with millions.
