Singer Seal Calls Out Oprah, ‘Sanctimonious Hollywood’ for Enabling Weinstein

Grammy-winning singer and songwriter Seal bucked the trend of celebrities protecting themselves over the sexual assault cases rampant in Hollywood, particularly against disgraced bigwig producer Harvey Weinstein.

On his Instagram account Wednesday, he called out “sanctimonious Hollywood” and Oprah in particular, for enabling Weinstein, posting gushy pictures of the two together and a scathing caption that read, “When you have been part of the problem for decades, but suddenly they all think you are the solution.”

Ever since the self-righteous virtue signaling display at Sunday night’s Golden Globes where actresses wore all black and Oprah Winfrey gave a rousing speech against sexual harassment, Hollywood and the media have been calling for Oprah to run for president in 2020. Many in the media, including CNN’s Van Jones, have ludicrously claimed that Oprah was an untainted human being who had nothing to hide or apologize for, so she would be an ideal candidate.

But not everyone in Hollywood agrees with that sentiment. Seal, who's probably most famous for his hit ‘90s ballad, “Kiss From a Rose” as well as being formerly married to supermodel Heidi Klum, posted this meme of Oprah seen cozying up to Harvey Weinstein on two separate occasions.

He criticized “sanctimonious Hollywood,” saying: “Oh, I forgot, that’s right...you heard the rumours but you had no idea he was actually serially assaulting young stary-eyed actresses who in turn had no idea what they were getting into. My bad. #SanctimoniousHollywood.”

The criticism of Oprah is certainly a rarity in the media. Since her speech Sunday night, the networks, cable news and Hollywood went ga-ga over the idea that she could challenge President Trump to a second term in 2020. Actress Meryl Streep even wondered where she could send a check to, to contribute to Oprah’s unannounced campaign, on Ellen DeGeneres’s show, Tuesday.
