Dear liberals: if Donald Trump uses a word you aren’t familiar with, that doesn’t mean it’s a fake word.
After the President mentioned the alt-left yesterday in a press conference, the New York Times ran a story that claimed, “Researchers who study extremist groups in the United States say there is no such thing as the “alt-left.”
That’s surprising, and apparently not true, since the Washington Post simultaneously reported that a nation-wide peaceful protest of Google was “postponed because of threats from “left-wing terrorists.”
It’s fine. Conservatives can’t possibly suffer from hate crimes, says the Anti-Defamation League, cited by the New York Times. In a quote from ‘analyst’ Mark Pitcavage, the term alt-left “did not arise organically and it refers to no actual group or movement or network.”
So, by that logic, then all of the left must identify with the “left-wing terrorists” that threatened a peaceful protest of Google. On the website for the “March on Google,” a post stated that “The Peaceful March on Google has been postponed due to credible Alt Left terrorist threats for the safety of our citizen participants.”
The post went on to say, “In one instance, an Alt-Left threat was made to use an automobile to drive into our peaceful march.”
That’s the same kind of terrorism the left is currently accusing the right movement of harboring, due to the Charlottesville violence. And whereas the New York Times described the alt-right as possessing a “wide online presence,” the Washington Post emphasized that the alt-right is a “small” movement.
The Google protest had announced a march in nine different cities, certainly more widespread than the Charlottesville racist protest. And yet the alt-left is threatening horrific violence towards a peaceful “free-speech” march.
