Although they are not eligible to vote, big name Brits in the entertainment industry have been vocal about the upcoming election across the pond.
At her Miami concert on October 25, Grammy and Academy Award winning singer Adele endorsed Hillary Clinton, declaring: “I am English, but what happens in America affects me too. I am 100% for Hillary Clinton. I love her, she’s amazing.” The singer went one step further with the command, “Don’t vote for him.”
The very same day, British actress Emma Watson posted a message on Facebook about the upcoming election in “her second home.” “Goodness, I wish I could cast a vote,” the former Harry Potter star sighed. “It can’t be denied that the result of the upcoming US presidential election will have ripple effects around the world,” she continued. Watson is clearly pro-Hillary. In September, she enthused about the possibility of a female POTUS to a NYC crowd. “Please don’t let me down, America!” she begged.
J.K. Rowling, the author of the series that made Watson famous, has been similarly vocal in her support of Hillary and dislike of Trump. Last year, after BBC tweeted about the similarities between the Republican candidate and the principal Harry Potter villain, the beloved Scottish writer responded: “How horrible. Voldemort was nowhere near as bad.” After the third debate, Rowling reacted more bluntly. “Well, there you have it,” she tweeted. “A highly intelligent, experienced woman just debated a giant orange Twitter egg. Your move, America.”
Well, in the end, it is our move. But thanks for the input, Brits.
