The super hot Broadway show Hamilton has decided to enter the stage of politics by hosting a fundraiser on July 12 for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. The fundraiser comes just two weeks before the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
For the event, titled “Hamilton: An American Musical with special guest Hillary Rodham Clinton,” tickets will cost anywhere from $2,700 - $100,000. A breakdown of ticket costs show the following: for the $2,700 ticket, supporters will get a general seat, with preferred seats going for $5,000. The premium ticket of $10,000 includes a photo reception with the candidate, and a host ticket of $33,400 includes a wrap party with Clinton and other special guests. For $100,000, supporters get an “event chair” spot – includes two premium seats, the wrap party and an invitation to the Democratic National Convention.
Ummm…someone on the Clinton campaign should tell her that if she wants to look like she’s like the rest of us common folk, attending a Broadway show fundraiser in her name - where tickets are anywhere between $2,700 to $100,000 – probably isn’t the best way to relate to us commoners. Top seats for the show on Broadway now cost $849, and sell on the Web for as much as $4,000.
Then there's the oddity of a Founding Father event for a socialist presidential candidate...
Of course, such elaborate fundraisers are nothing new for Clinton. A little over a week ago, Hollywood elites including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lopez, Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick, Candice Bergen, Bethenny Frankel and designers Vera Wang and Tory Burch, attended a Harvey Weinstein fundraiser in NYC where over $1.8 million was raised for Clinton. This past April, Clinton was honored in LA at the home of Jeffrey Katzenberg and wife Marilyn just a day before George Clooney hosted a multimillion dollar fundraiser for Clinton at his L.A. home. Katzenberg’s fundraiser was cohosted by Haim and Cheryl Saban, and Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw.
