Maybe Cleveland does not rock. Eagles guitarist and solo artist Joe Walsh has a big beef with the Republican Party.
Walsh announced on Wednesday that he is ditching a July 18 Cleveland summer concert which would have kicked off the Republican National Convention.
The rock star said he thought the entertainment would be nonpartisan and dedicated to veterans’ families, and when he found out it was for the Convention he issued a statement backing out.
Walsh said he “very concerned about the rampant vitriol, fear-mongering and bullying coming from the current Republican campaigns.” He “cannot in good conscience endorse the Republican party in any way.”
The Republican National Convention will take place July 18-21 at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena.
On Wednesday Walsh apologized to any fans or veterans and their families who might be disappointed. He promised to plan a veterans-related benefit concert for later in the year.
Comments on the Fox News Facebook post were for the most part disappointed.
“Sorry but we’re not the bullies,” one said. “Although we seem to scare people with chalk making them run to their safe spaces ... so keep your concert to yourself.”
Another remarked, “Your job is to entertain, not bully people into believing what you do. … We as Republicans are doing damage control after what Obama has done to our country.”
Walsh forgets that a lot of the bullying comes from his fellow liberals when they infringe on First Amendment rights, lie about women’s health, and cramp religious freedom.
