Twitter devoted a "Moment" Monday morning to celebrate the veto of a religious liberty bill in Georgia. The Republican governor, Nathan Deal, rejected the bill after tremendous pressure from corporate interests, particularly in the entertainment and sports industries.
"Governor Nathan Deal has vetoed Georgia's 'religious liberty' bill (House Bill 757), which has stirred controversy for allowing discrimination of the LGBTQ community," a Twitter curator explained, deploying scare quotes around the term "religious liberty," but accepting on face value the charge that the bill would sanction discrimination.
Of the nine tweets show in "Georgia's governor to veto anti-LGBT #HB757," only one was critical of the move, that of the Southern Baptist Convention's Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission president Dr. Russell Moore:
