Replying to a tweet about a story reporting that Ben Carson hints he was promised a position in a potential Trump administration, MTVNews senior writer Ira Madison III quipped "House or field?"
While not explicitly stating as much, the African-American journalist was clearly referring to Carson as a slave or perhaps even n****r, as in the derogatory term "house n****r," which Urban Dictionary defines as a "black person that does their best to please white people even if it means disowning their own racial identity."
Madison was riffing off of this tweet by the Daily Beast's Andrew Kirell:

In a subsequent tweet, Madison wentfor the vulgar rather than the racial by tweeting this caption to a photo of Trump and Carson:
