Eagles of Death Metal Frontman Slams French Gun Control, CBS and NBC Skip

Gun-rights supporters usually brace themselves whenever a figure from the entertainment world starts discussing gun control, but in the case of Paris terrorist attack survivor and Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes, he actually slammed France’s anti-gun policies.

Talking to a French TV interviewer, an emotional Hughes stated: “Did your French gun control stop a single [expletive] person from dying at the Bataclan? And if anyone can answer yes, I’d like to hear it, because I don’t think so. I think the only thing that stopped it was some of the bravest men that I’ve ever seen in my life charging head-first into the face of death with their firearms.”

A far cry from the usual calls for more restrictions on guns that you get from noted anti-gun celebrities like Amy Schumer. When Schumer made her “impassioned plea” for gun control back in August, all Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) network morning shows hyped the comedian’s assault on the Second Amendment.

But as of Tuesday morning only ABC’s Good Morning America, in a 21-second Amy Robach brief, has mentioned Hughes’ stance against gun control. While the interview can be found on NBCNews.com, it did not appear on Tuesday’s Today show.

The following brief, aired on the February 16 edition of ABC’s Good Morning America, is the sum total of Big Three coverage of Hughes’ remarkable statement:

AMY ROBACH: Well The Eagles of Death Metal, the band performing at the time of the Paris terror attacks will return to stage tonight to resume their tour. In a new interview, the band’s frontman Jesse Hughes argues for universal access to guns, saying gun restrictions in France made it easier for the terrorists. Hughes said he is overwhelmed by the support the band has received since November’s attack.
