On this evening's Hardball, Matthews aired what he himself said could be an anti-Bernie Republican ad, cobbled together from clips of various radical statements Sanders has made over the years.
In Chris' commercial, Sanders is seen saying he's a socialist, confirming he's not a capitalist, admitting that he applied for conscientious objector status, indicating that he would raise taxes to somewhere between 50 and 90%, and preaching political "revolution." CHRIS MATTHEWS: Let's think politically. Forget the ideology. Forget anything about -- just think about how the Republicans are going to run against this guy. If it's Hillary who has a thing going with Bernie, or Bernie. Socialism: nah, nah, nah, nah. Raising taxes: no, no, no, no. Revolution, oh, my God, we're all scared. SANDERS: We will raise taxes, yes, we will.

SANDERS: We haven't come up with an exact number yet, but it will not be as high as the number under Dwight D. Eisenhower, which was 90%.
CITIZEN: There's a rumor going around that you were a conscientious objector.
SANDERS: I did apply for conscientious objector status, yes.
SANDERS: What Iowa has begun tonight is a political revolution.
MATTHEWS: Could be an ad right there.
