Van Jones: Obama the 'Coolest Person Ever Born' So What's Deal with Young Voters for Sanders?!

February 1st, 2016 8:25 PM

Liberal CNN pundit and former Barack Obama green-job advisor Van Jones declared the 44th President of the United States "probably the coolest person ever born" during live Iowa caucus coverage on the network this evening.

Jones made the quip – although he sounded rather serious, not tongue-in-cheek – while marveling at 74-year-old socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders's appeal to millennial Democratic voters. What' more, he lamented that Mrs. Clinton must have "real heartbreak" at the fact that "young women are breaking against [Hillary] in [her] own party.

JIM AXELROD: I just want to respond to something that Van said, because I was there [in Iowa] in 2008. And I remember, if Hillary Clinton woke up this morning not expecting a youth movement on her opponent’s part, then she wasn’t paying attention eight years ago when she got beaten 5-to-1 by Barack Obama and they came out in record numbers. One of the reasons why it worked for Obama was there were as many people under 30 in those caucuses as over 65.

VAN JONES:  But don't you think, don’t you think, though, you know, Barack Obama is probably the coolest person ever born. This is Bernie Sanders! And this is also young women.

I cannot imagine if you’re Hillary Clinton, you don't have it in your heart of hearts real heartbreak that young women are breaking against you in your own party.
