ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith envisions a world where there is a woman coaching in some capacity, “at every level in professional sports.”
Here’s what Smith had to say on “First Take:”
“I believe particularly with the bevy of issues that the NFL has endured and suffered from over the past two years, I believe there should be a female on every single NFL squad as a coach in some capacity.”
“I don’t think it should be completely and unequivocally dominated by males…I wouldn’t mind seeing an assistant on every team in the National Basketball Association.” Smith continued, “The fact of the matter is there’s several male coaches in the WNBA. There’s several male coaches, coaching women’s basketball at the collegiate level.”
“Why shouldn’t females be coaching at every level in professional sports?”
So, there you have it.
The answer to domestic violence is…making sure there’s a female special teams quality control assistant on every NFL squad. No question Greg Hardy’s terrorized ex-girlfriend will take great solace in that.
Also, and I’m not going to pretend to know the entire work history of Kathryn Smith whom the Bills made the first full-time female coach in NFL history, nor should anyone dismiss the idea that Smith may have been hired as part of a politically correct crusade, but assuming for argument’s sake that she’s legitimately worthy of that position, what a smear Smith is engaging in here by basically cheapening her achievement and making some kind of call for a quota as part of a completely political attempt to repair the damage done to the league by domestic violence.
It’s just so PC, so liberal, so demeaning, so…well…ESPN.
