A new third party Google Chrome extension that gives its users the chance to block out any mention of Donald Trump from their Internet browsing experience was the subject of totally favorable coverage on Noticiero Telemundo. The filter is clearly being promoted as a tool that can further assist in the Left’s efforts to demagogue Trump within the Spanish-speaking Latino community.
As reported by Telemundo’s Jimena Duarte, the filter works in three different ways, tailored to how much of Trump one wants to censor and, ostensibly, the level you want to protect your feelings and right to not be offended by anything ever.
Rather than focusing on celebrities that actually may be worth completely blocking out of our lives – The Kardashians, Lena Dunham, or Caitlyn Jenner – the focus is on completely erasing the nation’s current leading candidate for the Republican nomination from the Internet.
The wholesale anti-Trump bias in the piece comes through loud and clear in that it deliberately failed to include any counter argument, much less a critical question, on the subject, and the reporter does all she can to showcase and promote the filter and its objective of censorship.
JIMENA DUARTE: And once the app is downloaded, you can choose between three different levels of censorship: medium, aggressive and vengeful. The first only blocks the images of the businessman, while in the last a blank screen appears.
At a moment in which journalists and other serious-minded media purveyors should be providing unbiased, objective news on all of America’s candidates for the presidency, contrary to its stated policy Telemundo in this instance essentially chooses to tell their viewers what to think, instead of trusting their viewers to make up their own minds. It is also worth noting that Univision and Telemundo have covered Trump much more than they have covered any other candidate, and often even more than their English-language counterparts. Their hypocrisy on Trump appears to know no bounds.
This latest example of the hypocrisy of the Left doesn’t end there. Liberals, of course, presume to defend free speech and the freedom of ideas and thoughts… yet, once someone advances a different viewpoint, they are quick to suppress, discredit (and in this case), completely censor those ideas altogether. The direction Democrats and their allies are headed in - this idea that anything that doesn’t align with their narrative is racist, Islamaphobic or bigoted – gives us a fresh indication of what lengths they would be willing to go to if Trump becomes the GOP nominee.
Below is the transcript of relevant portions of the report, which aired on the January 7, 2016 edition of Noticiero Telemundo.
