Moments before Daily Show host Trevor Noah went on a tirade Thursday night calling Ted Cruz “an asshole” and comparing him to a skunk, the liberal late-night comic admitted that the “feel[s] bad” for President Obama because “[h]e has been begging for gun control for six years” to no success supposedly because of Republican Senators.
Noah started the show by acknowledging the San Bernardino, CA shooting and lectured the media and viewers about rushing to conclusions when it comes to early information about such tragedies and remarked that “I’ve only been here a little over two months, and strangely enough, this is not the first time I have had to speak about these things and I don't know what to say.”
Turning to Obama, Noah explained how “there’s another man, half black, half white, who has to speak out every time this happens” for the past six years. Before a series of clips of the President commenting on various tragedies, Noah observed that: “[Y]ou can really see the toll it has taken on him.”
Following the video montage, Noah came out immediately by expressing his sympathies to the President over the inability of conservatives to go along with his gun control agenda:
I got to stay I feel bad for Barack Obama. He has been begging for gun control for six years, and the only major change in the gun debate since he’s got into office has been to his face. [LAUGHTER] You've got to feel for him, but at least we have found the answer to the amount of pressure under which black does crack. [LAUGHTER]
Using the tried and true liberal formula of using humor to blast conservatives, Noah placed blame for the lack of gun control measures on the Mitch McConnell-led Senate (never mind how the President had a Democratically-controlled Senate for six years) with a crude punchline:
But, the good news is if Obama wants to reverse that skin damage, he should take beauty advice from the people in charge of legislating change, like, for instance, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. He's barely aged in the past six years. And all he's had to do about mass shootings is take no steps whatsoever. Yeah. Congress has discovered the fountain of youth — pure distilled inaction. [LAUGHTER] Applied liberally to the face and then stick your face up your own ass for six years. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]

TREVOR NOAH: People are arguing. The gun control debate is reignited and now people are saying things about the Muslim community, them being under scrutiny again. It's a huge amount of information and noise. People are arguing over who is to blame. I sometimes wonder why we don't wait until we say things and I’ve only been here a little over two months, and strangely enough, this is not the first time I have had to speak about these things and I don't know what to say. You know, there’s another man, half black, half white, who has to speak out every time this happens. He’s been doing this for six years, speaking in the aftermath of mass shootings and you can really see the toll it has taken on him.
PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: [on 11/05/09] I would ask all Americans to keep the men and women of Fort Hood in your thoughts and prayers. [01/12/11] What, beyond prayers and expressions of concern, is required of us? [on 07/20/12] And if there's anything to take away from this tragedy it's the reminder [on 06/12/12] That all of us are heartbroken by what's happened. [on 12/14/12] We've endured too many of these tragedies. [on 09/22/13] I fear there's a creeping resignation. [on 04/02/14] Obviously, this reopens the pain. [on 04/14/14] Makes this tragedy all the more painful. [on 06/18/15] I've had to make statements like this too many times. [on 07/16/15] A heartbreaking circumstance. [on 10/01/15] As I said just a few months ago, and I said a few months before that [on 12/01/15] We have the power to do more to prevent what is just a regular process. [on 12/02/15] A pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world.
