'Saturday Night Live' Gets a Sex-Toy Boost from PolitiFact

October 22nd, 2017 2:01 PM
PolitiFact's "Truth-O-Meter" is an incredibly fickle instrument. It depends on who the liberals at PolitiFact want to paint as "True" and who they want to shame as "False." LAME: 'SNL' Boss Claims They Skipped Weinstein Mockery as Too Local

October 11th, 2017 10:54 AM
As NBC faces questions about why it turned away Ronan Farrow’s story on Harvey Weinstein, it’s worth taking a minute to ridicule the idea that NBC’s Saturday Night Live skipped over Harvey Weinstein last Saturday because, as SNL boss Lorne Michaels told the Daily Mail that mocking Weinstein would be a “New York thing.” Ridiculous. The show featured ten sketches mocking legally blind New York Gov…

Culture

One can’t accuse people of being racist and then casually fling racial slurs around. But Saturday Night Live’s Michael Che did just that, on the “Weekend Update” skit. After playing a video clip showing Trump criticizing the mayor of Puerto Rico, the actor ranted, (presumably as a part of the skit.) He said, “Oh really Donald? You bitch … write them a check with our money you cheap cracker!”

August 11th, 2017 12:38 AM
The busy and eventful summer for the Trump administration was too much of a calling for NBC’s Saturday Night Live, still between seasons. Which was why, on Thursday night, the network brought back their Weekend Update skit for a half hour long comedy special. The special had some pretty humorous moments. Pity ABC, NBC and CBS News. If the fall TV season comes and Sean Spicer is no longer White House Press Secretary, they’ll have to talk about something besides Saturday Night Live. Like maybe … news. Spicer is rumored to be leaving the press shop for another job in the administration. And if he’s not the daily face and voice of the Trump administration, it’s going to be hard for actress Melissa…

Al Franken’s Trumpian Vendetta Against ‘the Lying Right’

Culture
June 16th, 2017 11:16 AM
Al Franken’s recent book Giant of the Senate has a single aim, very much in line with Franken’s careers in media and politics: take down conservatives. Chock-full of quintessential nasty Franken wit, the book guides readers through Franken’s time on SNL, Air America, and – in recent years – the U.S. Senate. Reflections on (as well as various defenses of) his previous books, Lies and the Lying…

Scoop: 'SNL' Cast Members 'Hugged and Sobbed' When Donald Trump Won

May 15th, 2017 3:41 PM
The Hollywood Reporter has a new story on the “yuuge” year “Saturday Night Live” is having with its weekly sledge-hammering of Donald Trump. Interviews with the stars and writers confirm what we imagined. After the election, there was hugging and sobbing on the set. There was also choking back tears as they prepared the cringeworthy “cold open” where Kate McKinnon’s Hillary sang “Hallelujah.’
