NBC’s Will and Grace took on the issue of illegal immigration and the border wall on Thursday’s episode, “Tex and the City,” as well as painted Texas as a “homophobic” state that beats up gay kids “for sport.” A jailed illegal immigrant is also advised to “do what other immigrants do to try to get in legally, like…be white, or look white, or...marry the president.”

On Tuesday, former Wall Street Journal and Roll Call reporter Glenn Simpson – who co-founded the Fusion GPS Group that commissioned the infamous anti-Trump dossier – refused to testify to the House Judiciary Committee. This key development in the Russia investigation has yet to be reported by any of the Big Three (ABC, CBS, NBC) networks on their evening or morning shows. 

The stock markets were volatile in October, including an all-time Dow Jones Industrial Average high and some “major” falls. Unfortunately, the broadcast networks preferred to show the bad side of the economy. The network evening news shows focused on the “major selloff” and “meltdown” on Oct. 10 and 11 and ignored a record high on Oct. 3, as well as a 500-plus point gain on Oct. 16.

The three Chicago shows on NBC that now run back-to-back on Wednesday nights usually don’t get political in dialogue.
