There were plenty of outrageous hot takes from MSNBC during the Republican National Convention, but Rachel Maddow might have had the dumbest. On Tuesday, Maddow saw alt-right and possibly Aryan messaging in VP-nominee JD Vance’s Lord of the Rings-inspired venture capital firm.

It’s a challenging task but we here at NewsBusters are going to try to sift through all the crazy, angry and ridiculous observations made by leftist journalists every night of the Republican National Convention coverage and pick one for Worst of the Night.

When viewing MSNBC’s coverage of the Republican National Convention, one is led to wonder why leadership would sideline Morning Joe, albeit briefly, but not the insane asylum airing on prime-time. “Historian” Michael Beschloss’s assessment of President Trump’s acceptance speech only serves to intensify that wonderment.

One of the media’s general subthemes of the 2024 Republican National Convention is its revulsion at the idea of masculinity. Mention it and a mental gag reflex is triggered within pampered Acela types, which makes them spout all sorts of nonsense.

In the wee hours of Friday morning, following former President Trump’s longwinded nomination acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, MSNBC host Joy Reid continued her theme of the week of suggesting that Trump and President Biden were equal in most things from overcoming similar medical conditions (which weren’t) to being bad candidates.

Morning Joe knew "for a long time" that Biden was losing, but it continued to claim that he was doing well, discounting any negative polls. It does put a final nail in the coffin of any pretensions Joe Scarborough might have had of being anything other than an all-in Biden lackey and hack.

The bitter leftists at MSNBC’s prime-time studio panel limited their initial reactions to Ohio Senator JD Vance’s vice presidential acceptance speech to stylistic observations. Additionally, there was some light grousing about Vance’s exclusion of such MSNBC content bait as abortion and Project 2025. Even racial bomb-thrower Joy Reid showed some initial restraint. 

Following the failed assassination attempt against him over the weekend, former President Trump wanted the messaging of the Republican National Convention to adopt a message that was more unifying for the country. Despite Donald Trump’s assassination attempt still fresh, along with the media’s pleas for unity and ending divisive rhetoric, MSNBC’s Nicole Wallace released some pent up aggravation on Monday night's Deadline: White House when it came to Trump’s selection of Sen. J.D. Vance to be his running mate how he compares to current VP Kamala Harris. 

On Tuesday, MSNBC's the 11th Hour hosted George Conway who ridiculed religious people for believing that “God saved Trump” from being killed during the assassination attempt on Saturday. Conway went on to fret that the Republican party will “follow Donald Trump over any cliff and take the country” with them.
