Finally. It only took 666 days (insert your own joke about that specific number), but the hosts and journalists at Good Morning America have returned to Jussie Smollett and the hoax controversy surrounding him. Before Friday, GMA last covered Smollett’s crumbling 2019 claims of a MAGA mob with a noose attacking him on February 12, 2020. 

The Jussie Smollett hoax trial went to the jury on Wednesday, but you wouldn’t know it on Good Morning America. Since the start of the trial, the ABC show has offered ZERO coverage of the claims that the actor lied about a MAGA mob assaulting him. It seems as though GMA’s reporters and hosts are embarrassed of their past credulous, fawning interview with Smollett. 

It seems as though ABC News journalists and executives are still capable of feeling shame. How else to explain the network’s attempt to make everyone forget their initial (and very excited) coverage of Jussie Smollett's claims that a MAGA-loving mob assaulted him on a frigid Chicago night in 2018? In 2021, ABC is attempting to bury the story.

All three networks on Wednesday worried that the “strong new conservative majority,” the “solidly conservative” Supreme Court might actually overturn Roe vs. Wade in a pivotal case now being heard. Yet the same morning shows never identified who might be the “solid” or “strong” liberals on the Supreme Court. 

On Monday, NBC’s Today show was the only network morning broadcast to inform viewers that actor Jussie Smollett was facing a new trial over lying to investigators in his 2019 media-hyped hoax smearing Trump supporters.

ABC finally discovered rampant theft and burglaries plaguing liberal cities like San Francisco, on Monday’s Good Morning America. But ABC wouldn’t mention the city’s radically lax policies that encourage crime and even seemed to suggest these thefts were related to the holiday season.
