Republican presidential candidate John Kasich confused George Stephanopoulos on Wednesday with a story that included the line “I’m a Democrat.” In an amusing moment, the Good Morning America co-host, himself a former Democratic operative, appeared puzzled, “You’re a Democrat?” 

While all three network morning shows touted Hillary Clinton’s campaign attacking Bernie Sanders supporters for “sexism,” only NBC’s Today mentioned prominent Clinton surrogate and “feminist icon” Gloria Steinem employing sexist language to attack young women supporting Sanders.

A testy Chris Christie reminded George Stephanopoulos of his political “operative” past on Monday, hitting the Good Morning America co-host for bringing up the New Jersey governor’s low poll ratings. The former aide to Bill Clinton quizzed, “You have invested so much time and money in New Hampshire, though...still in sixth place, if you can't win there, where can you win?”  

All three network morning shows on Friday celebrated Hillary Clinton’s Thursday night debate performance as if she was a champion prize fighter. On NBC’s Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie proclaimed: “Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders faced off in their most contentious debate yet. Clinton accusing Sanders of running a, quote, ‘artful smear,’ against her.”

According to Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly on Friday, the Democratic primary race is a hyped-up media “mirage” and Hillary Clinton will almost certainly win the nomination. Appearing on Good Morning America, Kellly dismissed, “It seems to me like some sort of mirage. Because, you know, if you look at Clinton's long haul she's the favorite in every state after New Hampshire.”

On Thursday, all three network morning shows touted Hillary Clinton’s performance at CNN’s Democratic town hall event. On NBC’s Today, correspondent Andrea Mitchell gushed: “A different side of Hillary Clinton was on display Wednesday night.”

Senator Ted Cruz on Thursday battled with ABC’s Tom Llamas after the Good Morning America reporter accused the Republican of using “dirty tricks” against Ben Carson in Iowa. Regarding a press release and a tweet sent out by the Cruz campaign on caucus night, Llamas demanded, “Will you fire or suspend anyone at your campaign for putting out misinformation?...Is it a dirty trick to confuse voters?”

Liberal actor Richard Dreyfuss on Wednesday couldn’t resist trashing Dick Cheney as he promoted his new film role of Bernie Madoff. After Good Morning America co-host Amy Robach suggested he was playing “the most despicable man in modern history,” Dreyfuss derided, “Actually, he is the second most despicable man because I've already played Dick Cheney.” 

On Tuesday, all three network morning shows fretted over Hillary Clinton barely defeating Bernie Sanders in the Iowa caucus. NBC’s Today was the most melodramatic, with co-host Matt Lauer declaring: “Hillary Clinton gets to come out of Iowa and say, technically, ‘I'm the winner,’ but this had to be a near-death experience for the once-presumptive nominee.”

After conducting live softball interviews with Hillary Clinton on Monday, NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America both devoted admiring full reports to the Bernie Sanders campaign as well, both touting his “political revolution.”

While all three network morning shows conducted live interviews with Hillary Clinton on Monday ahead of the Iowa caucus, only CBS This Morning actually brought up her ongoing e-mail scandal. NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America both ignored the issue and lobbed softballs to the Democratic frontrunner instead.

The journalists on Good Morning America, Friday, spun Hillary Clinton as staying “above the fray” in her battle with Bernie Sanders, saying the former Secretary of State was cautiously optimistic.” CBS This Morning saw the Democratic fight as almost “affectionate” when compared to the Republicans. On NBC’s Today, Andrea Mitchell playfully boxed with Sanders.

After devoting nearly ten minutes of air time to Donald Trump’s boycott of the Republican debate on Thursday’s evening newscasts (rather than preview the debate itself), on Friday morning, the three broadcast networks offered over 21 minutes of political coverage continuing to hype Trump’s absence while only managing 7 minutes for the GOP contenders who participated in the event. 

Liberal actress Natalie Portman on Wednesday rhapsodized over left-wing Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, calling the judge an “inspiring” “hero.” Portman will play Ginsburg in an upcoming film. Appearing on Good Morning America, Portman gushed, “Well, she's, I think, a hero to so many of us....It's extremely inspiring and intimidating because she's such an incredible woman and she has…
