In the first 24 hours after Barack Obama nominated Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, the big three networks spun the judge as a “moderate” or “centrist” as opposed to a “liberal.” ABC and NBC reporters never called him a liberal, while CBS correspondents used the word just twice (opting for “moderate liberal” twice more). The networks identified Garland as middle-of-the-road nine times. 

On Thursday, the broadcast networks wasted no time advancing President Obama’s political strategy to force Republicans to confirm his Supreme Court nominee. The NBC, ABC, and CBS morning newscasts were eager to tout “pressure” being brought to bear on GOP senators to make them “pay a price” for opposing Merrick Garland for the high court.

Even before President Obama announced D.C. appeals court judge Merrick Garland would be his nominee for the Supreme Court on Wednesday, ABC’s Good Morning America and CBS This Morning both hailed Garland as a “moderate” leading contender for the nod.

It seems that Marco Rubio simply can’t win when it comes to ABC. Back in February, Good Morning America derided the “ugly” and “strange” attacks he employed against Donald Trump. On Friday, the morning show’s journalists worried he was too mild and didn’t “try” in the debate. GMA’s Stephanopoulos wondered if “you do anything to slow Donald Trump down?” 

Continuing their unhealthy obsession with the “bromance” between newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President Obama on Friday, all three network morning shows were thrilled by the pair exchanging pleasantries at a White House state dinner Thursday evening.

On Thursday, while covering the latest Democratic debate, NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America avoided any mention of Hillary Clinton being grilled by Univision anchor Jorge Ramos about accusations that she lied to the families of the Benghazi victims. Instead, both morning shows focused on the “biggest debate” of the night being over the color of Bernie Sanders’ suit.

ABC and CBS have found another young, liberal politician to fawn over. This time it’s not Barack Obama, but the “hunky,” left-wing leader of Canada. Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan on Thursday gushed, “ Canada's young and handsome new Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has arrived with his wife Sophie and three kids for tonight's state dinner at the White House.” 

The latest illegal immigrant to allegedly murder innocent Americans was apprehended early Wednesday morning in Missouri and despite Mexican national Pablo Antonio Serrano-Vitorino having a checkered criminal record, CBS and NBC found as little reason as possible to inform their viewers of this horrendous crime. 

As of Tuesday morning, ABC, CBS, and NBC's morning and evening newscasts have yet to cover the attack by suspected ISIS gunmen in Aden, Yemen on Friday which left 16 people dead — including four nuns of Mother Teresa's order — at a nursing home.
