There are many noticeable differences between the first and second Trump administrations, but some things remain constant throughout. Then and now, the major network newscasts are reluctant to report any good economic news to emerge from the Trump administration, in this case: the Consumer Price Index coming in lower than expected.

In 32 days of coverage (February 8 - March 12) ABC, CBS, NBC (on their evening and morning news shows) spent a total of (4 minutes, 43 seconds) citing specific dollar amounts that DOGE or President Donald Trump claimed to have saved the American taxpayer. 

Having seemingly run out of things killed by DOGE to report on, it appears that the CBS Evening News have expanded this favorite doom genre of news reporting. This new subgenre deals with the adverse reactions to tariffs across society, with tonight’s focus on…wedding dresses.

The daily DOGE drumbeat continues apace, and the strategy behind the “legacy” media’s reporting is now plainly apparent. They want to drive a wedge between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

Using the Trump administration’s announcement of tariffs against China as a hook, the CBS Evening News ran one of the weirder items in recent memory. After watching this story on the National People’s Congress, reasonable individuals are left to wonder whether the network should eventually change its name to XiBS. 

Once again, the CBS Evening News has decided to shine a victim spotlight on fired federal workers. This time, the focus is cast on the plight of a fired USAID worker.

In today’s DOGE-deranged news environment, stories seeking to spotlighting the adversity endured by federal workers often draw top billing. A new CBS Evening News report goes to that well again, and manufactures a link between the DOGE buyouts and Musk’s purchase of Twitter, in an attempt to imply malfeasance.

There is a lot of significant activity occurring south of the border, with massive implications for the United States. And yet, so-called “legacy media” can’t bring themselves to cover it.

CBS News is still smarting over Paramount’s decision to release the full transcript of the creatively-edited 60 Minutes interview with Vice President Kamala Harris, which removed significant word salads from her responses. The beleaguered CBS Evening News is still defending the interview, even as the parties move closer to settling the $20B lawsuit.
