Remember Twister, the game that ties you up in knots? That is a perfect way to describe Univision News’ ability to twist any good news related to the Trump Administration to fit its political agenda. One recent report about a new healthcare plan for persons in U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) custody along the Southwest Border is such an example.

As the 2010s wind down to a close, MRC Latino recounts the Worst of The Decade from our nation’s domestic Spanish-language media. In this installment we take a look back at some of the most blatantly biased coverage to emerge from the leading Spanish-language network.

In a cheap play for the sympathy of their female audience, Telemundo featured a report on the so-called “Three Comadres of Impeachment” -the three Hispanic congresswomen on the House Judiciary Committee. 

Following mainstream liberal media’s lead, Telemundo injected a massive dose of pro-Democrat histrionics to their coverage of the impeachment proceedings- vilifying anything related to President Trump while sanctifying the Democrats, and Nancy Pelosi in particular. 

Univision’s senior anchor Jorge Ramos is known for opposing most, if not all, enforcement of the U.S. southern border as part of part of the nation’s immigration policy. His most recent episode on Facebook Watch makes clear that enforcement of the northern border is off limits, too.

Univision recently paid a lot of attention to the efforts of Latinos for Trump, a nationwide group that aims to recruit 2 million volunteers to help register conservative Hispanics before the 2020 presidential election. What does Univision do when they wish to avoid reporting inconvenient news to their audiences? They bump those stories by rehashing reports on President Trump´s so-called  “anti-immigrant” policies, as was recently the case at Noticiero Univisión.

A record 28 million plus Hispanics in the United States were employed in November, 2019, but from what the Spanish-speaking nets convey, Latinos are – and must remain - eternally dependent on government assistance.

What was once anomalous bias by omission is now a familiar monthly ritual. The nation’s leading Spanish-language networks can’t seem to wrap their heads around the idea of having to report on the Trump administration’s jobs numbers within the Hispanic community, and if they do so, the report must end on some kind of sour note. The November report was no exception.

Every story is supposed to have two sides. But when it came to reporting the impeachment findings of the House Republicans on the Intelligence Committee vs. the Democrats’s report, the nation’s Spanish-speaking news networks tipped the balance in favor of the Democrats, by a margin of nearly 2 to 1.

Good news is always welcome, especially when our own pockets are concerned. However, a recent Telemundo report about remittances from the United States to Mexico went overboard in plugging a Spanish bank with a subsidiary in Mexico. 

It is known that immigration advocacy is the cornerstone of Univision’s “Agenda Latina,” the first issue among many others for which the network advocates. Transgenderism is also one such issue, and the network is not above inserting its agenda into its coverage by any means necessary.

The nation’s leading Spanish-language news network continues to inject its opposition to President Donald Trump into every possible angle. The most recent instance of institutional bias is reflected in a report on a recent study by the American Heart Association.

CNN political commentator, The View contributor and erstwhile Republican “strategist” Ana Navarro is now fit to deem racial authenticity, based on recent tweets. It all started with a tweet reacting to a poll that showed a 34 percent approval rate among President Donald Trump with African-Americans.
