Ben Stein: Media Are Whipping Us Into Economic Despair
Days after former Sen. Phil Gramm told the Washington Times that "We have sort of become a nation of whiners" when it comes to the economy, Ben Stein claimed, "It's the media that is whipping us into this frenzy."Deliciously, this came just minutes after a Democrat strategist actually said, "We are in the toughest economic time we have ever been in this country." As such, I would make the case…
Classless AP Takes Cheap Shots at Just-Passed Snow
At long last, has the Associated Press lost all sense of decency? The AP's story (saved here for future reference in case the wire service is embarrassed into revising it; you might consider saving it too as Exhibit A on how far over the cliff the dinosaur media has driven itself) by Douglass K. Daniel, with Jennifer Loven contributing (I might have known), gets in at least three cheap,…
Tony Snow Passes at 53 of Colon Cancer - Godspeed, Tony
We’ve lost another giant today. I was prepared to go straight to bed after having stayed up all night watching movies, but as I tuned to the TV, I saw that one of my favorite people, Tony Snow, had passed. I could not be sadder. He was only 53 years old, and colon cancer took his life. The world is missing a great friend today. Godspeed, Tony.
Newspaper Stocks Continue Unprecedented Dive
All of the major US stock indices are, unfortunately, in bear market territory. The S&P 500 crossed into Bearland yesterday, and dropped a bit further today. The Dow did so on July 1, and remains mired in its own "grizzly" situation. The Associated Press reported on July 2 that "the Nasdaq ..... hit that (bear) mark in March, moved higher and has now returned to a bear level." So if you're in…
Morning Shows Drag Innocent Drug Maker into Deadly Incident
When a horrible tragedy happens, media reports try to find a place to point the finger. Although, this time a company name is being tacked on to something they had nothing to do with. Heparin is a generic drug made by many different companies that is used to thin blood. It has recently been involved in two accidents involving babies and media reports have unfairly connecting one company to…
Embarrassing: Obama Accidentally Shoots Down NBC’s Puffery of His
NBC News may actually be more pro-Obama than Barack Obama himself. Back in March, a celebratory NBC Nightly News story about Obama’s childhood in Indonesia described the future candidate as “mastering the Indonesian language.” But Obama — who this week has voiced displeasure that many Americans do not speak a foreign language — admitted on Friday: “I don’t speak a foreign language. It’s…
Report: Bad Economy Keeping 'Troubled' Marriages Together
NBC's 'Today' cites relationship and financial experts to show high costs and declining divorce rate are correlated.
MSNBC's Obama Style Promo
MSNBC has recently taken their negativity to a whole new level of fear mongering with a promotional ad peddling their election coverage. The ad features reporter Andrea Mitchell narrating the voiceover:People really care because our kids are falling behind in school. Because health care is no longer affordable, we’re at war, the American economy is in trouble. While MSNBC had a bullpen of biased…
AP Selectively Rounds in Coverage of Reported Deficit
The Associated Press's Jeannine Aversa "creatively" and selectively rounded figures presented in today's Monthly Treasury Statement from Uncle Sam. That Treasury report, released this afternoon, covered monthly and year-to-date receipts and spending in the federal government. By doing what she did, Aversa made sure we know that year-to-date receipts are down, but at the same time made Congress's…
