LATimes Claims GOP 'Uneasy' About Rush, Yet Offers no Proof

The L.A. Times published a story on February 9 that states that "the GOP" is "uneasy" about Rush's "self-coronation" as the voice of Republicans. But, after reading the story one realizes that it does not really prove the claim. In fact, only one person is quoted mentioning Rush at all. The rest of the story is but the Times' conjecture and the claims of "some" and "experts" but nothing that…

Filmmakers' Take on 2008: Obama, Clintons Are Heroes, Palin the Fool

Hollywood filmmakers are ruminating about taking on the 2008 political season. Towering personalities, scintillating stories, and epic clashes abound. The stories of the 2008 political campaign are pretty stimulating. We had the aging Democratic establishment in the form of the Clintons taking on the fresh young face in Obama, not to mention the first black candidate of note. We also had a close…

Olbermann: Time for ‘Dick’ Cheney to ‘Shove It’ & ‘Leave Thi

Now that America has a liberal President, it is apparently no longer acceptable for a private citizen to express disagreement with the White House in Keith Olbermann’s world. On Thursday’s Countdown show, MSNBC host Olbermann delivered his latest "Special Comment" rant, this time calling for former Vice President Cheney to "leave this country," and made a suggestion that Cheney, who recently…

Hollywood Heroines Are Dumb, Weight-obsessed and Man Mad

For years NewsBusters has addressed the declining quality of movies currently available at theaters, and has normally pointed fingers at the amount of sex, violence, and vulgarity that has become sadly commonplace.Another view was indirectly offered by the U.K. Guardian Sunday: Hollywood heroines have become dumber and dumber "increasingly portrayed as neurotic, idiotic and obsessed by men,…

20/20 Gleefully Reports on 'Wall Street Madam' Clients Including NBC V

Your humble correspondent has always been somewhat uneasy about newspapers publishing the names and photos of clients of prostitutes. For committing what is at worst a misdemeanor, those clients have a good chance of having their entire lives ruined when their wives and family find out. The punishment seems quite a bit out of proportion to the crime. However,  I must admit getting a bit of a kick…

For Media, Dirty Laundry Is All in the Family

In the early 1980s, Don Henley hit the charts with the song "Dirty Laundry," a sarcastic view of television news.  It begins:I make my living off the Evening NewsJust give me something-something I can usePeople love it when you lose,They love dirty laundryWell, I coulda been an actor, but I wound up hereI just have to look good, I don't have to be clearCome and whisper in my earGive us dirty…

Editorial: Bush Had Nothing To Do With Financial Crisis

As the financial crisis hit last September, NewsBusters regularly informed readers of the truth behind the matter, and that media assertions the Bush administration was to blame were politically motivated falsehoods intentionally designed to get Barack Obama elected president. On Saturday, the financial publication Barron's offered readers an editorial by Hoover Institution visiting fellow Scott S…

Socialism Update: Goldman Wants Out of TARP, Wells Nixes Junket

While the Obama administration and its media minions castigate financial industry executives for their so-called greedy ways, a couple of inconvenient truths are going largely un- or under-reported: one bank being criticized for a lavish convention in Las Vegas was forced to take TARP money in October, while another is trying to pay back the funds to regain its autonomy. As the press had a field…

'Nobody Knows The Outcome, So The Most Important Thing Is Speed

Who cares if we're like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, careening in his pickup toward the brink of the rock quarry?  At least we're moving fast! That seemed to be Claire Shipman's logic in urging speed in the implementation of the stimulus plan. The ABC correspondent made her curious comment today during the roundtable segment of This Week.CLAIRE SHIPMAN: Don't you think that, I mean as George […
