For all of the talk about collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, there seemed to be a bit of collusion on Wednesday between the cable news channels as they dissected the President’s State of the Union speech.

The spin began with an official statement by the FBI, which journalist Pete Williams read aloud. The Washington Post was filled with morose editorials following President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address on Jan. 30. That is yet another example showing The Post has “no credibility on this issue at all,” MRC Vice President of Business and Culture Dan Gainor said Jan. 31. He appeared on Intelligence Report with Trish Regan to discuss the media’s response to Trump’s speech.

As President Trump stepped up to podium to deliver his State of the Union address Tuesday night, the NBC News team wanted viewers to focus on one thing as they watched the speech – that Trump was “under criminal investigation” and Special Counsel Robert Mueller “hovers over the chamber.”

As to be expected, the liberal hosts at ABC’s The View were less than thrilled by President Trump’s State of the Union last night. Those who linger at the The New Yorker magazine's website eventually see a splash advertising its dedication to "fighting fake stories with real ones." Staff writer John Cassidy's ridiculous assertion that "George Soros Upstaged Donald Trump at Davos" shows that this is clearly false advertising.

What State of the Union coverage anchored by Chris Matthews would be complete without the inevitable, nostalgic look back at Barack Obama? In the early hours of Wednesday, the MSNBC host talked to liberal actor Bradley Whitford and blurted, “I looked up to Obama. As a journalist,  I looked up to Obama. I don't mind saying so. Obviously.” 

On Wednesday, MSNBC’s Morning Joe hosted a number of guests to evaluate President Trump’s performance during the previous night’s State of the Union address. Notably present was political consultant and pollster Frank Luntz, whose defense of the President’s speech earned him considerable flak from anchors Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski.
