Freeform’s The Bold Type, which centers around three young women who work at fictional Scarlet magazine (based on real-life Cosmopolitan magazine), is one of the most left-leaning, not to mention inappropriate shows, on television right now. (Freeform was formerly ABC Family and The Bold Type has been dubbed a teen drama, despite its extremely adult content.)

In the current troubled climate of race relations in our country, you would think that Hollywood would be careful to avoid anything that would be construed as racist, but instead, they often seem to join the mainstream media in stirring up racial divisions. In what has to be seen as a bit of a welcome change from the norm, Friday morning coverage at the Associated Press of the Thursday terror attacks in Spain which, as of the time this post was written, had killed a total 14 and injured 125, many seriously, hasn't gone wobbly or weaselly. On Thursday, the left-wing Jewish outlet The Forward published an article comparing Richard Spencer's white nationalism to the State of Israel. Ironic, considering the paper was founded as a platform promoting socialism, also a dystopian vision, which targeted the Jews in the Soviet Union and other places.

NBC’s Midnight, Texas focuses on the denizens of a small town named Midnight which includes vampires, witches, spirits, and other supernatural creatures. Overall, the show, while never passing into the realm of interesting, tows the line between the fantasy and political. Unfortunately, now they’ve brought in symbols from Christianity, which means it’s time to be called out.

In the midst of the horrific violence happening Saturday in Charlottesville, Virginia, Obama’s former “faith adviser” Joshua DuBois decided to lay into Christians for supposedly endorsing the violence and “right wing" hate. Mid-afternoon Saturday, DuBois wrote an op-ed for The Daily Beast blaming Christians and evangelical leaders for not condemning white supremacy enough. Sound familiar?
