The opening monologue of the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards, airing September 17 on NBC, included a little of the usual political slams worked into Hollywood entertainment award shows. The ceremony hosts, Saturday Night Live’s "Weekend Update" hosts Colin Jost and Michael Che, took swipes at Christian conservatives and Roseanne fans.

Besides gay rights, Shameless, Showtime’s hit liberal show, has yet another social justice cause to champion. This time it's equal pay.

Nero fiddled while Rome burned, and that didn't work out too well. The NFL's reputation is on fire and Commissioner Roger Goodell is fiddling, too. As headlines blast "The NFL is Now One of the Most Divisive Brands in the U.S.," and "NFL Sinks to Least Popular Top Professional or College Sport," the commish is engaging in social justice activism, according to Nancy Armour's USA Today report.  

If there’s one thing that CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin can’t be accused of, it’s keeping his opinions about President Trump a secret. He denounces the President seemingly every chance he gets. Lately, he’s taking to decrying many things the President does and says as somehow racist. During Wednesday’s Tucker Carlson Tonight, Carlson called Toobin out for his hyperbolic wailing.
