Stacey Abrams has announced that she won't attend because of a "scheduling conflict,' leading Joe Scarborough to joke about Abrams having an appointment for a car tune-up and tire rotation. 

On New Day, Democrat Bakari Sellers, a CNN political commentator, speaks of "the malaise that we’re in now with the resurgence of the virus, inflation, et cetera." In doing so, Sellers echoed Kamala Harris, who over the weekend said America was at a "level of malaise."

On her MSNBC show on Saturday, Tiffany Cross claimed that "despite everything this country has done to people who look like you and me," she and Malcolm Nance are "bigger patriots" than Tucker Carlson and Ted Cruz, whom she described as "half-witted."

Professor and MSNBC contributor Eddie Glaude Jr. was not happy with Sen. Joe Manchin's announcement that he is a no on the so-called Build Back Better bill, claiming him to be "a kind of relic of a previous era," who is indifferent to people suffering while he lives luxuriously. 

On Morning Joe, Scarborough expresses understanding of the Democrats' anger at Manchin, but warns them that they are pushing him into the arms of the GOP. He cites the precedent of Jumpin' Jim Jeffords, who left the GOP and joined the Democrats over his disputes with Pres. George W. Bush, thereby handing the Democrats the Senate majority.
