CNN Grills Santorum's Press Secretary, Gives Free Pass to Obama Aide
February 23rd, 2012 3:44 PM
While she grilled Rick Santorum's press secretary over his debate performance, CNN host Soledad O'Brien asked an Obama aide nothing even approaching a critical question on Thursday's Starting Point, and even teed her up to bash Republicans.
O'Brien mirrored her own network's treatment of President Obama in Wednesday night's debate – avoiding critical questions on the President's record and…
MSNBC's Luke Russert Asks Democratic State Legislator: Are Mandated Ab
February 23rd, 2012 3:22 PM
Filling in on the 11 a.m. hour of MSNBC Live coverage this morning, Luke Russert talked to Washington Post reporter Anita Kumar and Virginia Del. Charniele Herring (D) about Gov. Bob McDonnell's "abrupt switch" to oppose requiring "invasive" transvaginal ultrasounds prior to an abortion. McDonnell is backing a bill that would make transvaginal ultrasounds optional but abdominal ultrasounds…
WashPost Editorial Board Dissatisfied with Compromise Decision on Pre
February 23rd, 2012 11:40 AM
The Washington Post editorial board is so committed in its abortion-on-demand views that apparently an abdominal ultrasound pre-abortion is too much of an imposition.
In their February 23 editorial, "Mr. McDonnell's abortion crucible," the Post lamented that "Virginia's governor back[ed] down on ultrasounds, but not far enough."
Tamron Hall Decries Use Of Military As Pawns . . . . While Standing In
February 23rd, 2012 9:44 AM
In an MSNBC "Lean Forward" promo aired on today's Morning Joe, Tamron Hall says she's been upset and saddened by the use of patriotism and military families as political pawns.
So where did Hall station herself for purposes of the spot? Why, in front of an A-4 Skyhawk military jet! As she so often does during her on-air appearances, Hall also spoke of her background as member of a military…
Bias Alert: Former DNC Chairman Looks to Buy Philadelphia's Two Major
February 22nd, 2012 4:26 PM
According to Wednesday's Washington Times, the former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee is looking to purchase Philadelphia's two major newspapers, raising concerns of liberal bias. Paul Davies, the Philadelphia Inquirer's former deputy editorial page editor slammed the possible move, saying, "Essentially, the Inquirer will cease to exist as a legitimate newspaper."
Ex-DNC chair…
LAT Editorial: Climate Skeptics Want Teachers to 'Lie ... in the Class
February 22nd, 2012 3:11 PM
On Monday, the editorial board at the Los Angeles Times was so mad that they fell victim to a corollary of Godwin's Law (he who mentions Hitler or the Nazis has automatically lost the argument) by the third paragraph.
What has them so upset? The very idea that K-12 classroom instruction might not teach human-caused global warming and the need for massive and radical government intervention in…
LAT Reporter Worries Over Gleick Heartland Doc Theft's Impact on Accep
February 22nd, 2012 1:21 PM
While the Associated Press and the wire service's Seth Borenstein dither on what to report or whether to report anything about confessed document theft from the Heartland Institute by the Pacific Institute's Peter Gleick (a search on Gleick's last name at the AP's main national site at noon came up empty), Neela Banerjee at the Los Angeles Times incompletely reported the facts and fretted that…
In Story On Proposed Ultrasound Mandate, WashPost's Kumar Fails to Not
February 22nd, 2012 12:12 PM
Reporting today on how Virginia Republican "Gov. Robert F. McDonnell is backing off his unconditional support for a bill requiring women to have an ultrasound before an abortion," the Washington Post's Anita Kumar failed to note that Virginia abortion providers affiliated with Planned Parenthood already use ultrasounds as part of their preparatory work for abortion.
As Commentary magazine…
Lefty Professor Sachs Hates Being Called Out On Adelson-Soros Double S
February 22nd, 2012 8:42 AM
Sometimes, an image says it all. Check out the screengrab after the jump of Jeffrey Sachs. The lefty professor is unabashedly angry at Joe Scarborough.
Why? Because the Morning Joe host called him out on his egregious double-standard. Sachs had labeled Republican Super PAC funder Sheldon Adelson "completely unlikable" and said he shouldn't be involved in American politics. But when…
Berkeley Man Murdered After Police 'Pre-Occupied' With Occupy Movement
February 21st, 2012 11:46 PM
A man in Berkeley has died as the result of a violent crime. A contributing factor to his death was a failure by the police to respond to a 911 called which was deemed a "non-emergency." The police were in a posture of only responding to "emergency" calls because "were preparing for an Occupy protest headed to UC Berkeley from Oakland."
It will be interesting to see if this gets covered by…

Updated at 22:51 EST (see bottom of post) | Wiley Miller's "Non Sequitur" strip is syndicated in newspapers throughout the country, including the Washington Post. To the extent Miller delves into politics and social or religious critique, it's generally from the left.
Today, the day before Ash Wednesday, Miller's February 21 cartoon was entitled "Divine Intervention" and depicted a bishop in…

February 21st, 2012 3:45 PM
Since when does a "few" mean thirteen? The answer appears to be: "When Barack Obama says it does, and when the press won't call him in it."
Rush Limbaugh today talked about a January 25 speech President Barack Obama made at Conveyor Engineering and Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and pointed to a particular segment demonstrating in his view that Obama was deliberately "downsizing the…

February 21st, 2012 12:49 PM
Putting a question to MSNBC's Chris Matthews at the end of a President's Day panel discussion at Ford's Theater on Monday, I challenged him about the American people growing cynical of media coverage, the left-wing Harball host responded by proclaiming that his own program was "a great positive thing for American civilization." The largely liberal audience applauded the notion. [Listen to the…
How Will AP's Borenstein Respond to Peter Gleick's Admission That He S
February 21st, 2012 12:11 PM
The Associated Press's Seth Borenstein, his wire service, and most of the globaloney-advocating establishment press have a problem relating to development NB's Iris Somberg noted a short time ago.
Peter Gleick, described in a related UK Guardian story as "a water scientist and president of the Pacific Institute," said last week that he "obtained" documents from the Heartland Institute about…
