Double Standards

Further ramping up his open opposition to President Trump's immigration law enforcement policies, Univision anchor Jorge Ramos has let loose with an outrageous tirade that could best be described as equal parts nationalistic identity politics, racially-driven demagoguery, and yet another instance of the irresponsible conflation of legal and illegal immigration. 

In June, the City of Philadelphia, in what was hailed as a "historic moment for public health," passed a deliberately misnamed 1.5-cent per ounce "soda tax." What anyone with a lick of sense could have predicted would happen is happening, and the national press is mostly ignoring the tragic results.

Throughout Wednesday’s Hardball, MSNBC host Chris Matthews expressed no concerns or reservations about the “grassroots resistance” and “anger from progressives” on display at congressional and Senate Republican town halls. All the while, he sang a different tune seven and eight years ago when the Tea Party was born, denouncing them as racists and sexists who shouldn’t be given the light of day. 

The double standard continues, folks. Appearing as a guest on Tuesday’s Hardball, MSNBC political analyst and USA Today senior political reporter Heidi Przybyla brazenly argued that anti-Semitism is becoming “mainstream” on the right after having been only a “fringe, alt-right, white nationalist movement.”

On CNN's New Day Tuesday co-host Chris Cuomo expressed concern in an interview with Florida Republican Representative Carlos Curbelo about President Donald Trump's immigration policies. Additionally, Cuomo not only cited inaccuracies about immigration policy presently, but also historically.
