There are a couple of important economic lessons that the American people should learn. I'm going to title one "the seen and unseen" and the other "narrow well-defined large benefits versus widely dispersed small costs." These lessons are applicable to a wide range of government behavior, but let's look at just two examples.

As if they were reading talking points from Democratic Congressman Adam Schiff (Calif.), CNN’s Dana Bash and Gloria Borger groaned on Tuesday’s The Situation Room that it was a “tragic” “shame” that House Intelligence Committee Democrats and Republicans haven’t worked together on the probe for Trump-Russia collusion in the same way Congress did with Iran-Contra and Watergate.

Reacting to President Trump’s decision to replace Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, on Monday afternoon, MSNBC anchors Chris Matthews and Katy Tur went into full meltdown mode over the cabinet reshuffling. Both hosts feared that Pompeo’s “hawkish position on Iran” would provoke a “stupid war” with the authoritarian regime.

After initially ignoring the finding Monday evening, on Tuesday morning, NBC’s Today show touted Democrats trashing Republicans on the House Intelligence Committee for the “controversial conclusion” that there was no collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign during the 2016 presidential race.

Tuesday morning on Good Morning America, ABC failed to lead with the pivotal news that broke last night on the ongoing Russia investigation; that the House Intelligence Committee had concluded their investigation and found no proof of collusion between Russia and the Trump 2016 presidential campaign.  

On Monday's Hardball show, during a discussion of President Donald Trump's campaign rally in Pennsylvania, race-obsessed MSNBC contributor Jason Johnson declared that President Trump is "half a rally away from just using the N-word," and likened him to slave master Calvin Candie from the movie Django Unchained.  

On Monday, the House Intelligence Committee closed its inquiry into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election, much to the chagrin of the liberal media. The committee confirmed that the Russians were indeed trying to cause chaos in the election, claimed they weren’t out to help candidate Donald Trump specifically and that there was no collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. On her 4:00 p.m. ET MSNBC show Monday, Deadline: White House anchor Nicolle Wallace was eager to dismantle the “mythology at the White House” that President Trump possessed any “humanity” whatsoever. That nasty rhetoric then prompted panelist Donny Deutsch to play armchair psychiatrist and trot out his favorite attack line that Trump was a “sociopath.”

Appearing as a panel member on Sunday's AM Joy, frequent guest and Huffington Post columnist Kurt Bardella accused the NRA of trying to incite its followers to "take matters into their own hands" by criticizing the dominant media's bias against Second Amendment supporters, and declared that "the NRA has blood on their hands" if the media face a violent attack.  

On New Day Sunday, CNN viewers finally saw the recent controversy over Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan's ties to Democrats at least mentioned by someone other than Jake Tapper during a discussion of former Donald Trump advisor Steve Bannon's speech to a right-wing political group in France. But -- in spite of the incendiary and blatantly racist nature of some of Farrakhan's comments, some…
