Anti-Religious Bias

Comedian David Cross insists that his stand-up routine is not political or anti-Donald Trump in any way. But during his most recent show for a bunch of Trump supporters in Utah, local news reported that he joked about beating the president into a “bloody pulp and then urinating and defecating on him.”

Ahead of Pope Francis visiting Ireland in the coming days, NBC’s Today show offered a nasty hit piece on the Catholic Church that cheered the nation moving left on issues like gay marriage and abortion. The segment also highlighted liberal critics of the Church rooting for the religious institution’s demise.

The entertainment industry enjoys portraying clergy and churches in the worst possible light. Unfortunately, a Canadian dramatic television series on the CW, Burden of Truth, has fallen for the usual lazy trope of painting a church minister as overly zealous. He tries to punish a bunch of teenage girls, including his own daughter, for becoming ill from a neurological disease.

Whenever the Catholic Church gets into any hot water, the liberal media is always there to fire off some ignorant criticism or scathing tirade. Of course, it’s the perfect opportunity to channel their ire for the Church, so why hold back? Daily Show host and liberal mascot Trevor Noah didn’t hold back with his anti-Catholic monologue on Wednesday.

On Sunday, panelists on MSNBC’s AM Joy attacked Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his defense of religious liberty in the United States. Without question or dissent, Sessions was condemned in the harshest of terms. Host Joy Reid asked Minister Jonathan Wilson-Hartgrove about his position that defending religious liberty is really only defending conservative Christians. AMC’s Preacher is no stranger to controversy obviously, but the worst of the worst usually comes from the original graphic novel. The fact that the show feels confident enough to bring it to screen says more about our society than anything I could type. The latest casualty this week is the Pope.

Season Two of Netflix’s original hit show GLOW premiered last Friday with ten episodes to binge on, and the season was thankfully tamer compared to season one. But that’s not saying much considering how season one was one big “f--- you to the Republican party,” and was filled with rampant sex, foul language, abortion and more.

Women’s magazines aren’t just for fashion and makeup anymore. No. They’re also for abortion. On Monday, President Trump announced his pick for new Supreme Court justice: federal judge Brett Kavanaugh. Writers for women’s magazines from Glamour to Teen Vogue immediately produced stories warning about what the nominee could to do to “your abortion rights.”  

One of the left’s biggest weapons is identity politics, and the media will continually ignore facts to keep this weapon functional. This is especially true regarding Christians, whom the media label as bigots and oppressors. They can never be seen as victims and so the media report accordingly.

If it isn’t obvious by now, AMC’s Preacher isn’t a fan of God, Jesus, Christianity, or anything remotely resembling decency. So it comes as no surprise that the show lets out how it feels about the Creator of the universe - verbally and physically. In another less-than-shocking twist, it requires a censor just to talk about.

Bob Corker, the outgoing Republican senator from Tennessee, recently compared supporters of President Trump to members of a cult. The Washington Post quoted Corker as saying: “It's becoming a cultish thing, isn't it? It's not a good place for any party to end up with a cult-like situation as it relates to a president that happens to be of -- purportedly -- of the same party.”

On Tuesday, MSNBC hosts and correspondents displayed their religious intolerance by attacking the faith of potential Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett. During one hour after another, Barrett’s membership in a faith group was ridiculed and listed as one of her “potential weaknesses” in a Senate confirmation fight.

CNN’s The Lead spent almost six minutes on Tuesday discussing the Supreme Court’s ruling on President Trump’s travel ban with Minnesota Democratic Congressman Keith Ellison, but host Jake Tapper turned the tables on Ellison by grilling him for the remaining five minutes on his ties to anti-gay, anti-Semitic, and sexist Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. 

Monday on Cuomo Primetime, former Republican Senator Rick Santorum called out CNN host Chris Cuomo on his "intellectual dishonesty." Cuomo tried to compare White House Press Secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, being asked to leave the Red Hen restaurant last week to the Masterpiece Cakeshop court case in which a Christian baker refused to specifically bake a wedding cake for a gay couple.
