CNN Newsroom anchor Brooke Baldwin had a wide-ranging softball interview with former Vice President Gore that revealed her biases on climate and his involvement so far in the 2020 race. In addition to getting Gore’s thoughts about the Democratic field, Baldwin asked on March 15, “Have any of these candidates reached out to you? Have you advised any of them?”

NewsBusters has been monitoring CNN’s town halls with the Democratic presidential hopefuls for 2020, and Monday’s event with Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren at Jackson State University in Jackson, Mississippi, hosted by Jake Tapper, was arguably the easiest for any candidate so far.

This somehow slipped beneath the radar but it is highly significant considering who said it. In fact if you read just what the person said, you might even think most of  it was spoken by someone at NewsBusters. However, what is significant, is the words were uttered by former ABC News star Ted Koppel on March 7 during a discussion at  the Carnegie Endowment for  International Peace. 

The journalists at CNN on Monday were dazzled by Beto O’Rourke’s habit of apologizing. During an interview with 2020 Democratic presidential candidate John Delaney on her Monday show, MSNBC anchor Andrea Mitchell wondered how the former Maryland Congressman could possibly compete with Beto O’Rourke, whom she promised the media would follow “like a magnet” throughout the campaign.

On Monday, while both CBS This Morning and ABC’s Good Morning America managed to at least mention Beto O’Rourke receiving greater “scrutiny” and making “gaffes” over the weekend, NBC’s Today show skipped the Democratic presidential candidate’s unflattering stumbles in favor of gushing over his “eye-popping” fundraising numbers.

On Morning Joe, Mike Barnicle dismisses the murder fantasy Beto O'Rourke wrote as a teenager in which he described enjoying killing two children with his car. "He was 16!! I mean, come on!!", said Barnicle. But during Brett Kavanaugh's SCOTUS confirmation hearings, Barnicle passionately argued that Kavanaugh's accusers had to be believed.
