Free speech platform Gab said it archived a hoard of “disgusting” tweets replying to President Donald Trump’s account before it was banned.
“For months we have been backing up every reply to Donald Trump’s tweets. We call this project the Liberal Hate Machine,” the official Gab account tweeted Jan. 10. The account went on to explain that this project “conducts sentiment analysis to detect threats of violence, slurs, and more.” The official Gab account added that the archive has a treasure trove of controversial commentary to be sifted through, exposing Twitter’s clear hypocrisy on enforcement:
“We have over 100 million tweets collected of the very hateful people on this website making the most disgusting (and highly illegal) replies to the President and other conservatives.”
Gab, a controversial free speech alternative to Twitter has shown that innovation is one way to stay afloat as a conservative platform. Parler has been essentially nuked by the combined deplatforming from Amazon’s servers and Apple’s and Google’s respective app stores. Gab leadership suggested that the platform created an entire tech ecosystem to be immune to censorship:
“You can't get banned from Amazon when you own your own servers like we do. It's not just ‘build your own social network.’ It's build your own:
“-hosting service
“-payment processor
“-app store
“-web browser
“-email service
“-ecommerce platform
“So that's exactly what we did.”
Twitter began a censorship apocalypse in recent days after it purged Trump. This from a site that has allowed foreign dictators and even pro-genocide propaganda. But it won’t allow a sitting U.S. president to post.
“After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence,” Twitter announced on Jan. 8. Twitter Safety explained that “we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action.”
“The suspension amounts to a ban: Trump can no longer access his account and his tweets and profile picture have been deleted. Trump had 88.7 million followers prior to his suspension,” CNBC reported.
