Daily Kos Week in Review: Hyenas of the Right

August 4th, 2012 8:15 AM

This past week, one Kossack contended that the Republican party is dead, and that conservatives -- specifically, a Sarah Palin-led mob -- killed it. Of course, killing's to be expected from right-wingers, who according to another Kossack are characterized by "nihilism, hatred, and murder-suicidal compulsiveness."

As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.

jkay: The GOP, party of zombies

...There is no more republican party, it is dead. We might as well start calling it the Tea Party.

Palin and her insane clown posse killed it, and the "real" republicans didn't even put up a fight. They just rolled over and let the tea party win.

This has put our country in great peril, because now there is only one party that takes governing this country seriously...

In your fathers republican party, there were just enough reasonable adults to keep these kooks on the fringes. That is not the case anymore. What were looking at is a night of the living dead scenario where the zombie base is growing and the reasonable middle class people have headed for the hills. Unfortunately, these zombies are here to stay, and they represent a grave danger to our democracy because they have no desire to participate reasonably in governing. Their idea of compromise is bringing a gun to a political rally and deciding not to shoot anybody...

Troubadour: Conservatives are criminal animals

...Conservatives reject the underlying foundations of morality and consciousness that make humanity something more than a pack of hyenas. The unmitigated nihilism, hatred, and murder-suicidal compulsiveness of their attitudes is like staring into the deepest of abysses...

...The Republican "case" for itself and against us consists entirely of bald-faced lies, fallacies, denial, and appeals to pathological and often criminal impulses that have no place in a free and enlightened society...

Troubadour: Mitt Romney, grim reaper

...Nothing you have is the result of "work," unless the work in question was your father's or the poor schmucks whose labor on your behalf merely helped you take away their own jobs at the earliest convenience.  So when the President says "you didn't build that," he's talking to you, shithead: You're a gleaner of other people's harvests; a cowardly, paper marauder who counts himself "successful" for having helped destroy the industrial base of this country...

...There are still people who see America as a country, not a game show for privileged sociopaths to compete on how much of our legacy and future you can destroy in minimal time...

Truly men like you are the grim reapers of free nations, and if the people of this one were as dumb as you think - or as helpless as you hope - then you would most likely be the one to slam shut the sepulchre door on the American Dream, whistling on your way to the Caymans with our nation's life-blood brimming out of your pockets.  That's been your Party's plan for some time now...

Mark Sumner: The face of gun rights is crazy

...[T]he NRA is a conspiracy factory producing a constant stream of lies, damned lies, and blood-soaked hatred. It doesn't fight against threats to gun owners, it invents them. By ginning up an anti-gun boogeyman composed of one part full-on black helicopter UN lunacy, one part United States equals Germany circa 1933 analogies, and one part that-black-man-wants-to-take-your-guns-and-give-them-to-brown-people, the NRA has waged a campaign of fear against nonexistent persecution. It's an extraordinarily successful campaign, one by which gun manufacturers have completely avoided any hint of an economic downturn and coasted to record sales on a tidal wave of paranoia. The NRA has become one long, strange commercial for gun makers and sellers that operates counter to the good of gun owners in almost every way.

Thanks to the NRA, the American people have a hard time even conceiving of such a thing as a "responsible gun owner." How could they, when everything they see of the people who are supposedly their spokesmen reveals frothing paranoids only interested in declaring that you better buy more bullets, buy more guns, buy, buy, buy before the evil gub'mint takes it all away?...

diomedes77: Capitalism is the problem

Anyone who has ever debated the economy with conservatives knows that it's a tough slog...

What I find so amazing in all of this is their constant assertion that only they, only conservatives, really understand the economy, when it's absolutely clear that they don't. Not in the slightest...

To the conservative, there are actually two economies, the public and the private. The first one is not real, and it's where our tax dollars go to die. They apparently disappear off the face of the earth, and no capital formation happens. In the other, the real economy, money is magically transformed into something that multiplies itself, so that everyone wins, no one loses, and capital formation can happen without it actually coming from somewhere else. It's never "other people's money" to begin with in the private sector. Only in the public. Wizards are everywhere. Harry Potter wannabes unite!!...

...[A]s long as the left can't even make the case for one economic ecosystem, we are unlikely to be able to move on to the real source of our troubles:

Capitalism itself...
