This past week, one Kossack contended that the Republican party is dead, and that conservatives -- specifically, a Sarah Palin-led mob -- killed it. Of course, killing's to be expected from right-wingers, who according to another Kossack are characterized by "nihilism, hatred, and murder-suicidal compulsiveness."
As usual, each headline is preceded by the blogger's name or pseudonym.

In your fathers republican party, there were just enough reasonable adults to keep these kooks on the fringes. That is not the case anymore. What were looking at is a night of the living dead scenario where the zombie base is growing and the reasonable middle class people have headed for the hills. Unfortunately, these zombies are here to stay, and they represent a grave danger to our democracy because they have no desire to participate reasonably in governing. It's an extraordinarily successful campaign, one by which gun manufacturers have completely avoided any hint of an economic downturn and coasted to record sales on a tidal wave of paranoia. The NRA has become one long, strange commercial for gun makers and sellers that operates counter to the good of gun owners in almost every way.
Thanks to the NRA, the American people have a hard time even conceiving of such a thing as a "responsible gun owner." How could they, when everything they see of the people who are supposedly their spokesmen reveals frothing paranoids only interested in declaring that you better buy more bullets, buy more guns, buy, buy, buy before the evil gub'mint takes it all away?...

What I find so amazing in all of this is their constant assertion that only they, only conservatives, really understand the economy, when it's absolutely clear that they don't. Not in the slightest...
To the conservative, there are actually two economies, the public and the private. The first one is not real, and it's where our tax dollars go to die. They apparently disappear off the face of the earth, and no capital formation happens. In the other, the real economy, money is magically transformed into something that multiplies itself, so that everyone wins, no one loses, and capital formation can happen without it actually coming from somewhere else. It's never "other people's money" to begin with in the private sector. Only in the public. Wizards are everywhere. Harry Potter wannabes unite!!...
