LOL: NH Public Radio Apologizes for Sponsoring 'Anarchist Book Fair'

The Boston Globe reports on some unintentional political comedy: New Hampshire Public Radio issued an apology that they sponsored a “Live Free Anarchist Book Fair” in Hanover, New Hampshire over the weekend, since they somehow didn’t realize an Anarchist event might look political! They posted on Facebook:

NHPR erred in accepting an invitation to sponsor and host a table at the Anarchist Book Fair in Hanover on Saturday. Our code of ethics (NHPR.org/ethics) makes clear that we should not compromise the integrity of our journalism by involvement in anything that can be viewed as political. No one from NHPR’s newsroom was aware of or involved in the decision to participate in this event.

We remain committed to our mission of independent, trustworthy journalism for everyone in New Hampshire, and we are evaluating our internal processes to ensure mistakes like this don’t happen again.

Even the liberal Globe can identify the politics of the event:

The book fair — hosted by Live Free Autonomy Collective, formerly known as the Reproductive Freedom Fund of New Hampshire, a nonprofit that works to reduce financial barriers to abortion and gender-affirming care — was advertised as a celebration of “radical ideas, collective care, and grassroots organizing.”

This collective posted a promotion for the event on Instagram with bold capital letters: “SOLIDARITY WITH THE PRAIRIELAND DEFENDANTS.” That’s a reference to the under-reported July 4, 2025, attack at the Prairieland Detention Center for illegal aliens in Alvarado, Texas. A responding police officer was shot in the neck and survived, and the shooter – Benjamin Hanil Song, who was active in the Socialist Rifle Association -- was sentenced to 100 years in prison. The SRA was listed as a sponsor of this anarchist book fair.

Michael Graham at NH Journal added just who exposed this mistake:

Independent journalist and online influencer Karlyn Borysenko, who spotlighted NHPR’s involvement on her social media feed, reported on the book fair. Among the materials being handed out were pro-antifa flyers. One participant was wearing a T-shirt with an image of a gun and the phrase “The means of production aren’t going to seize themselves.”
