PolitiFact: You Can't Call Renee Good a 'Domestic Terrorist,' Just Jan. 6 Rioters

January 14th, 2026 3:26 PM

The left-wingers at PolitiFact used the breaking news of Renee Good's death for several "fact checkers" defending her activism and attacking Trump. When Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described Good as a "domestic terrorist," many liberal-media operatives objected, from Jimmy Kimmel to The View, plus those "independent fact-checkers." The PolitiFact headline:

Experts question Kristi Noem calling Renee Good a 'domestic terrorist.' Here's what it means

You can be certain that the "experts" are all leftists with an agenda. But first, PolitiFact writers Maria Ramirez Uribe and Amy Sherman wanted to paint Good as a poet, and she somehow "wasn't an activist"!

Good, a mother of three and a poet, lived in the Minneapolis neighborhood where she was fatally shot. She was a United States citizen and had no criminal background, The Associated Press reported. Good’s ex-husband told the AP that she wasn’t an activist and he hadn’t known her to participate in protests. Good had dropped off her 6-year-old son at school and was driving home when she encountered ICE.

Come on now! It's obvious from the videos that Good and her partner were participating in activism obstructing ICE by parking their SUV to block the street, so how do "fact checkers" claim she was just a mom driving home??

The Experts were predictably on the activist Left:

  • Faiza Patel, Brennan Center for Justice director of liberty and national security…and former FBI agent Michael German, with the Brennan Center for Justice. PolitiFact also turned to these two when they objected to defining Antifa as "terrorists."
  • Thomas E. Brzozowski, former Justice Department Counsel for Domestic Terrorism, who wrote on Substack that clearly echoed PolitiFact: “When ‘Domestic Terrorism’ Becomes a Political Weapon: The Minneapolis Shooting and the Erosion of Government Legitimacy.”
  • Shirin Sinnar, a Muslim activist and law professor at Stanford Law School, who wrote a recent journal article lashing out at America’s “racialized security state” since 9/11. A 2021 article in the San Francisco Chronicle lionized Sinnar and Michael German for their defenses against “Islamaphobia” under Bush-Cheney.

Now did these "fact checkers" object to government officials defining the January 6 riot as a "domestic terrorism" event? No.

FBI Director Christopher Wray has no page at PolitiFact, despite a March 2, 2021 AP report: "FBI Director Chris Wray condemned the January riot at the U.S. Capitol as "domestic terrorism" Tuesday as he defended the bureau's handling of intelligence indicating the prospect for violence."

PS: PolitiFact used this tragic occasion to award Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.) a "Mostly True."

PolitiFact also rushed to defend Good from a “rap sheet” that’s circulating on social media: “A document shows Minnesota shooting victim Renee Good had a record of child abuse.” “FALSE,” they said, but then repeated more gush about Good.

PolitiFact did not find any court records in Colorado, Missouri and Virginia showing that Good has ever been charged with child abuse or endangerment. We also searched news reports for information about possible arrests and reviewed statements from Good’s friends and family. None revealed any information showing Good has faced child abuse charges.

Her former brother-in-law, Joseph Macklin, described her as "a great and loving mother," The Washington Post reported.

She had recently moved to Minneapolis with her wife and 6-year-old son, whom she had with her second husband, according to news reports

Good’s first husband called her a "devoted Christian" in an interview with The Associated Press. He said he never knew her to participate in any protests. Together, they had a daughter and son, now 15 and 12.

The AP also reported that Good "was never charged with anything" beyond a traffic ticket. PolitiFact found she was cited in 2019 in Virginia for failure to have her vehicle inspected. The Denver Post also reported that she had a 2012 traffic ticket in El Paso County, Colorado.

A screenshot showing an arrest record for a "Nicole Renee Good" contains numerous inconsistencies and does not prove Renee Nicole Good was accused of child abuse. We rate that claim False.
